Tooth and Nail...The Randall just rips!

I love Tooth And Nail, and had an early RG80es head for a long time. My playing will NEVER touch it, but that tone is in there.

My favorite Lynch tone is Back For The Attack though.

I just got an old Randall RG-100 that il be picking up in florida next month. I really liked Lynch's tone with the Randall so hopefully the amp can get that sound :) I can mimic Lynch's playing fairly well which is about a good 75% of his sound atleast IMO! The vibrato and attack is what cops that sound.

Tone wise for me with Dokken is BFTA, ULK and then TAN but honestly from Breaking to the 2nd LM record I loved it all. At that point GL was the shit for me and to this day I still have alot of him in my playing. Hell I even like some of the stuff on Dysfunctional and Shadowlife.

That said his tone on TAN reminds me of a razor but in a good way.

“Under Lock and Key” is in my top 5-10 guitar tones ever! I don’t personally think “Tooth and Nail” is even close.

I do like the old Randall RGs, though.

mofo necrobump....
and Without Warning

lots of old faces in these old threads.

Without Warning might be my favorite Dokken song lol. Part of that probably has to do with that feeling I got when I first heard the album in its entirety.

I put my rg100es in the same category as all my other great amps, I’d have zero issues if that was my only main amp

How far off from the classic Randalls does the modern RG series sound? Had a RG1003H or whatever it's called for a while, didn't like it at all. Bought it when the other guitarist in my band didn't have a half-stack yet. Was kinda OK sounding but due to how cheap the components were it constantly fed back in a way pretty much any other amp I've owned didn't.

saw T&N tour, then ULAK, then BFTA, then monsters.

T&N live was generic forgettable LA sound.

ULAK was the peak for his playing and live tone. that show and gillis/ozzy were the top rock tones i’ve ever heard live.

From Tooth and Nail I always thought the guitar tones in the chorus of "Just Got Lucky" sounded huge. Listening to it now and I still think it sounds huge.

My favorite Lynch tone from Dokken was from Beast From The East. That tone kills! And the best part to me is that it's live tone.
It's a great tone but i think it got the Ozzy Tribute treatment where you are hearing a lot of post production. What was the amp/setup on that tour do we know?

Between TAN and Dimebag's early tone, I will never sell my RG80 head.

I believe Antonin Salva ( salvation mods) has had a hand in designing these new randall Dime warhead amps so the sound will probably be readily available soon enough.

Love Randall tones, Lynch, Dime, Cantrell...
This cat has an RG80 combo when I was in college, played in a jazzy blues band, and it sounded friggn fantastic.

I had an RG75 2x12 in the early 2000s that sounded pretty good. Gave it to a friend's kiddo when she got him a Dime guitar, so he'd have the best beginner setup. A waste, since he preferred playing Guitar Hero to actually learning. Well, not a total waste. She did thank me in the best of ways.

BFTA is my fav Dokken album, and one of my fav guitar tones from the time. Up there with Ozzy NRFTW, GnR AFD, Tesla MR. I believe Lynch used Aspen Pittman's plexi on that, and the first Lynch Mob album?
And I think ULAK was the same amp Slash used (and tried to steal) on AFD?
Edit: I recently saw an interview where Lynch said it was  that Marshall on ULAK, but the producer says it was 2 Marshalls and a Laney with 14 mics. Who knows.

My memory is WS was SLO; with some leads done by a 50w Plexi. BFTA was a Caswell or Lee Jackson Marshall; and ULAK was 5 amps (a few Marshalls, Randall, another I can't remember and a Rockman plus he used a 4 track Fostex recorder as a boost lol). I liked all of George's tones on all Dokken plus the first 2 LM albums. One of my fav players.
