tourmaster reverb quit

GC isn't going to give any warranty service on an Egnater anyway. You have to send it to an "authorized repair center", which GC is not.

and the closest one to me is like 3 hours away, or something nonsensical like that!

any clue what could be causing this Lou?

At this point, I would really need to hook up a meter and maybe even a scope to check the entire reverb circuit. Without schematics, it would be very difficult, and near impossible over the internet. Is this the amp that has lost the reverb transformer two or three times? Have you checked continuity on the transformer primary? Which amps were the ones that have the reverb board that has issues? I don't understand what could be so super secret as to not release the schematics.

yeah, this is the one you helped me with previously.

2nd RT to go in this one.

Possible reasons for the reverb transformer to crap out, maybe too much current, bad filter caps in the Plate supply for the tube, faulty Cathode resistor and/or cap on the reverb driver half of tube, or just another transformer issue. Check the Cathode resistor and capacitor (assuming that is the case) for the driver half of the reverb tube. If the resistor and cap are good, you can check the current by measuring the voltage drop across the Cathode resistor of the driver side of the reverb tube, then use ohm's law to calculate current. I am guessing that you should have somewhere around 7 VDC or less across the Cathode resistor of the driver half of the reverb tube. Of course, you must have a working reverb transformer to check the Cathode voltage, because if the transformer primary is open, there will be no current and therefore no Cathode voltage......

thanks for the tips dude....
nate didn't seem to thrilled about sending me another one.

im debating....though, i will say, the original RT compared to the new one, sounded WAYY richer, and fuller....the 2nd one just sounded blah. like it was already dying...which leads me to believe theres one or more components that have gone bad in the reverb section of this amp.

but, like you said, i need a new RT to further troubleshoot it.
