I'm a big rap for Profilers, especially Kemper.

Modelers, as opposed to Profilers, can be great fun and were what I used from the mid '90s for 20 years, but I found that endless tweaking was my big enemy there. Plenty of neck and backache on-tap.

With the Profiling approach in general, whether making your own or using others' output, there's less fine tuning involved 'cause you tend to select something close to what you want for a given situation to begin with.

Exactly the way I feel as well. The potential is there with modeling but I don't care. I don't want to spend the time , I'd rather spend the time playing .... with profiles it's much faster and less technical.... profile and go!

I'd bet on profilers changing the game too. I think personally that Kemper i had few years ago sounded better than QC.

I don't think personally they're still there but the idea is intriguing.

Edit: I haven't test profiling my own amp with Kemper yet so idk if it would change my mind then.

Yup, the AxeFX3 had me sitting there for hours on end tweaking this and that. Strumming a couple dozen riffs and never really “playing”. They are super cool and have their place for sure.

Quad is a very neat unit and in a nicely designed package (other than the stupid power brick).
A couple of friends have them and like them. I've tried it earlier on and it was a solid unit.
I found the touch screen to be very cool but at times a bit slow on responsiveness. That may have changed from the time I tried it.

I would definitely consider one if I was getting back to the modelling stuff.

modelers are very polarizing and i love it! So much fun being a normal person on the "tubes are cool but so are modelers" side and watching these two teams fight all the time.
100%. I have both, love both and see everyone's arguments. I just find life is too short to commit to a "team". Rather be tinkering and shredding, than telling people online my subjectivity is now dogma.

bumping this...it's only a couple months old...but wtf, lets live dangerously.

i've done the modelers. i'll always cuddle with them during the cool weather months, then as soon as summer is here, i dump them and move on to real glass. but here we are in Oct. , and i'm falling for the slutty winter time beuaty once more... i digress.

i d/l neural's free trial on an amp plugin the other day... so far, i'm SOLD. outta my laptop, into 2i2, into small SS power amp, into 212 w/greenbacks. yea...it sings man.
crazy assumption, but for those that have traveled this road already, if i dig the free trial of a plugin... i'll LOVE the QC (?)

when compared to the Fractal...does the Fractal have the upper hand with effects, or are some of the amp models better as well? or is it a toss up between the two?

thanks fellas!

Just made this quick clip , profile was a real cameron ccv , and a cameron ccm clone , sm57 dead center on a h30 anniversary celestion. Ccm and ccv profiles.... through cla10 studio monitors .... very low volume... pretty cool ! I'm impressed how well it cleans up... this clip is a little
On the bright side for sure , that was somewhat intentional...

really good clip man! well done.
