Uberschall or Cameron modded Marshall?

No one can really tell you what to get since you're idea of what you like is different from anyone else's and it so subjective. Probably a better choice would be to ask people that have spent time with both which one they preferred and why. I own 2 Camerons right now and it's not because I'm a fanboy or a guy with a lot of disposable income collecting toys. They're just that good. If I could buy an amp off the shelf that sounds and more importantly feels the way those amps do, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I've spent a lot of time with Ubers and just about every other high gain rock amp I could get a hold of, some in the $4000 range, and the Camerons just inspire me to play more than any amp I remember since I was a teenager. You start playing and you don't want to stop. THAT'S neat.

Good point in calling out a comparison between Cameron and Uberschalls. And I agree whole heartedly that an amp that makes you play and not want to stop is inspirational and special. I have just always been a fan of the Uberschall since I can remember, and now I am in a situation where I can have either a Cameron modded Marshall, or the Uberschall I have always wanted. I can gauge what an Uberschall sounds like and what an Uberschall can do. But anything modified always has its own characteristics...so it's hard to judge, without hearing, what the Cameron modded amp would sound/feel like...making the decision of which would be a better amp for me even harder.

And that's certainly made no easier by the fact that the Uber is an amazing amp, too. Absolutely killer. I can say to my ears, the Cameron Marshalls are more lead oriented, classic amps, and Ubers are more modern but do lots of things extremely well.

Hence my dilemma...

LOL I don't think we've really helped the OP at all!

It's a tough choice between two really great amps.

I concur!

I've got a Cameron modded '78 Marshall Super Lead that I am contemplating selling for funds to purchase an Uberschall...Anyone have any idea of what this would be worth? Anyone want to trade? This may be out of line, and I apologize if I am, but I can't post to the classifieds yet...

Do some research, and post it in the classifieds section - it'll go quick.

As for Uberschalls, I am a big fan of the Twin Jet. Get the clean taper mod on Ch.1 so that it's a bit easier to use for cleans. Other than this, both channels and most certainly Ch.2 will melt a hole in any stage you're on.

Good luck

Cool, thanks for the advice. I have it listed locally on Craigslist and as well on Ebay since I am unable to post to the classifieds here on Rig Talk...I have under 50 posts (rules permit posting with less than 50 previous posts). And I want to be legit in how I count up to 50 posts rather than giving a quick comment here and there. Plus, I like Rig Talk and would like to be a long time member...

50 post requirement makes sense - you could also "casually" add it to your signature. Just sayin'.

Great idea!

Channel 1 on the Twin Jet Uber can somewhat get in the hot rodded Marshall territory. First couple minutes in this vid it gets there.

I love my rev blue. Its the best amp I've ever played period. Having said that I haven't played many modded Marshalls. I have had a bad taste for Marshall in the past. Either way if you got one and hated it, it would be fairly easy to flip either one.
