DAMMIT.....    :gethim: :aww:

Finally checked out my new Diezel FL 4x12 cab out and its got the damn Eminence speakers in it, which I did not want. Time for some speaker shopping or snatch some V30's out of one of my other rear load cabs. Or, been thinking about trying some Celestion K12-100's in something.

Two things for certain though....from the inside out, the cab is built like a tank and the Velcro they use on the grill is some of the best I have ever pulled apart. Great job on that, just hard to find good retail help these days.

By the way, it was ordered from Marcs Guitars (http://www.marcsguitarshop.com) in the USA and shipped overseas. Was told it had V30's in it. At least he got the front loaded part right  .

Between the cab, shipping, customs, new speakers and more shipping, I may very well have the most expensive 4x12 cab on the planet  My old Mesa is looking pretty damn sexy about now.

Have you tried to contact Marcs Guitars? I think they should take the responsibility for the mistake.

Not yet. If I was in the US, I would have just sent it back. But, over here in the Land of Sand, it isn't worth it. Will let him know to change his ad though. If he wants to make good, then OK. If not, I won't sweat it :gethim:

Meanwhile, I will snatch the V30's out of the Mills then have a think about the GT's.

How did your experimenting work out with the 300 watt EVM's?

SK

honestly man...give the cab a chance...i love my diezel eminence speakers in my FL 4x12 definitely better sounding than the boring v30's that make you sound like everyone else.

I agree. I have the Diezel Emminence speakers in my 2x12FL and I really like them!

Didn't have that much time with my gear lately, man. Busy at work & stuff. So far liking the 200wt version better. I've added some insulation in the avatar 1x12.

Played a few times with the 300wt version in the practice space with Herbert & it sounds pretty good. I really dig the 200wt EVMs mixed with v30s, but they are heavy. In a front loaded cabinet they may sound harsh in front of the cab though.

You have a Mills acoustics cab ?

Dave Mills builds a good, solid cab. The 4x12's cabs are very oversized - a good 3" taller and wider than a Mesa or my Diezel. With the V30's they are bright with good bottom. I think if you got one made with 2-V30's and 2-G1275's it would be a good one cab solution. He is quite proud of them though. They are pretty slow at turning them out though, if you order direct from the shop.

hummm....regarding the mills - i opened the back up and snatched the V30's out. internally, i am not so impressed with the cab. it looks typical production marshall or something comparable. the diezel on the otherhand has loads of baffles and solid as hell.

v30's are loaded in the front load diezel and i am a much happier camper.

one word for the diezel cab assemblers though.....put a little extra jumper wire between speakers. on a rear load, no big deal. on a front load  . i had a speaker on the knees, balancing with an elbow, solder in my mouth, wire in one hand and a soldering iron in the other!

I would have given the Emi's a chance. I don't believe that they are the average every-day POS's that are put in Anyamp from Anycompany.

nah, the v30's are much better for me and what i look for. the em's are way too flat, tame and tight. if you like them though, thats cool.

Bottom line, which cab is tighter and has a faster attack ? Mills or Diezel FL ?
I'm concerned the Mills may have too much low mids, due to the oversized design. Did you find that ?

without a doubt, my money would be on the diezel front load - build quality and sound quality to me are awesome. when you have a peek inside, there are 3 solid baffles and the cab is deep which i am sure makes much of the difference, other than the speakers projecting more front loaded. the cabs response to speaker changes is very dramatic, where i would find with any rear load. as a matter of fact, i am contemplating maybe a 2x12 front load cab and slap some celestion g12-k100's in it to compliment the other with the vh4. the uberschall will stay with its ubercab, which is also a great cab. i wouldn't pay the money for the mills as there is nothing special about it.

damn bro, great to hear an honest opinion from an owner! thanks as i was hearing alot of hype bout the mills

Andy - anything put together with sheet-rock screws, I have to wonder about.

Are you and your band from TN? I am from Nashville, originally.

SK

lol yeah i dont trust my sound to sheet rock screws thats for sure! we are actually based out of knoxville but nashville is like a second home to us. we normally play 12th and porter, the exti inn, and sometimes the rutledge when we play down there. I actually spend a ton of time there on my own with sessions and what not, i even did several road tours with different country artists. Nashville is great man, i know alot of musicians dog her because competitions so high but she has always been very good to me.

I haven't been back to Nashville in years, but it is definitely the recording capital of the SE. My folks live in Murfreesboro.

Steve

no love for memphis? i'm in NOLA. ah, the dirty south...

incidentally, i had a diezel 412R with those eminence speakers. i wasn't very fond of it. i changed them to v30s and gk12-100s in X pattern. huge improvement. the 100s are awesome. my favorite current production celestions by far (of course, one should consider that most celestions are now chinese made, and there may be other options out there, like eminence man-o-wars or governors... old fanes are cool too).
