I have both an 80 and a Boogie 90 in a 4x12 and much prefer the 80. The boogie is considerably brighter. This is with a classic marshall type overdrive. I used to sell Boogies and much preferred the 90's over V30's for high gaiN Boogie tones as they were tighter and cut better. In my experience the 80 and 90 sound quite different.

Thats cool! I definitly want to try the 90's, then atleast il know if i like them or not. The clips i have heard make me think that i will probably like them though :) Id be using them with my MKIII and also my Cameron Aldrich for high gain tones. Think Sykes 87 tone

CL80's are in the ballpark of MC90's. I find MC90's to have a bit more treble and midrange and be a little smoother. I think the cone is slightly different on the MC90's compared to the CL80's in addition to the vented pole piece on the MC90's. I have seen lots of debate on how similar or different the speakers are.

I have run my mark IV through a marshall 212 with CL80's, through a couple of 112's (V30 and CL80) and now through a 412 halfback cab with a couple of MC90's and EV's. It sounded great through all, the halfback is the best though. I would be perfectly happy with running it through to CL80's though.

Its too bad you can't get the CL80 warehouse clones over there for cheap.

If it were me I would get the CL80's and see how you like those. If you find yourself wanting a tweak of those than look into the MC90's again and pony up the money
