UPDATE! Looking for Speaker Suggestions with EVH 5150III 100w EL34 Head or should I trade for a Stealth?

I personally would absolutely not do this. The el34 stealth smokes they 6l6 stealth in every way to me personally. I do like the 6l6 stealth, but the el34 100 stealth is just insane sounding to me. More grind, more low end, more girth, it just rules.
Well, he's coming tonight after 5 and we are gonna jam through both of them. It's just an amp I've wanted to try and since I have the chance, I'm gonna give it a play through tonight and if I like it, make the trade, if I don't I'll keep the EL34.

I have had probably 50 amps over the years. The only amp I've truly fallen in love with is my 5150/6505. I'm always chasing that "tone"

Then if ya don't have that, grab the new 6505 1992. But if you still have the 5150, I wouldn't trade the EL34100 for the 6L6100 just for the reason it's not an even swap. The EL34 100 usually holds higher value for sure....so if you want to make the trade, I wouldn't do an even up swap, but that's up to you.

Made the trade.

I have a 6505+ on my Marshall cab in my studio room.

I ended up doing the trade. The Stealth just seems to sound better but it also has SED Winged C power tubes. Maybe that's some of the difference?

Even though I don't have the room, I did also end up with an EVH 2x12 cab that doesn't have the grille cloth on it and is a little beat up. I might put it in the closet and turn my spare closet into an iso chamber of sorts and maybe put some creambacks in it to try them out and swap the two "eddiebacks" as someone referred to them into the Mesa cab.

Won out on this deal. Thanks for all the help duders!

The EVH 2x12 has Anniversary G12H30’s…….not the EVH speakers. Those two speakers couldn’t be any further apart IMO. Some people love the Anni’s, but I find them scooped and bright as all get out. And they just get worse as the volume goes up. I replaced the speakers in my EVH 2x12 with WGS Invaders, but I rarely if ever use the cab.

Ehh no biggie. I'll put the creambacks in it then. Actually enjoy how the Stealth sounds thru the Mesa cab now.

Hmmmm, I think your ears are tricking you. Colder amps always have more low end, more tightness, more highs etc. im sure it did take out the harshness though considering it probably made it more midrangey with less highs and lows. I purposefully bias my amps on the colder side, for heavy rhythm tones it always wins.
No, definitely improved this amp. Not sure how it works with different amps but for the 50watt 6l6 stealth, biasing to the recommended versus from the factory improved everything.

There are posts about how they ship the EVH amps out with a colder bias. My amp went from a "man, maybe my purchase was a mistake" to "I might buy a second stealth" after biasing it.

This is exactly what I did with mine. Now I will mention that I play at both high volume and low volume. When I first got the amps, at low volume it was lacking more tonally than now. I can play at any level and just sounds great.
