*Updated* Friedman BE Mini or Soldano SLO Mini as backup?

I am planning on getting either a Tech-21 Sansamp FlyRig or a Soldano SLO mini as a backup to my tube amp as a solid state/analog solution as well as something that can also be used for recordings. Was wondering if anyone has had experience with either?

I used to gig with a Tech-21 PSA 1 and got amazing tones live. Just curious if anyone has ever used one direct?
 
I have the BE mini and used it as a backup. Works fantastic. Two of my friends each have a mini as well, one has the SLO and the other has the Bogner. They all sound good and if you’re at a gig and mic’d up you can’t beat ‘em as a backup.
 
The Flyrig is going to get you more options but there’s the issue of power unless you just go direct. It will not get you the level of gain like the minis AFAIK.

Appreciate it man! I just realized too that with a small amp, versus the Flyrig, I can still plug in my effects board, etc.
 
So decided a solid state Mini amp would be a better and more useful investment. Wondering if the Friedman or Soldano would be the better choice? I love Friedmans but have never had a Soldano. As a reference, I have a 5150-III 6L6 50 watt and Friedman pt20 V2 and like nice, solid Marshall like tones. Thanks!

My .02,,,,I’d get the SLO.
 
Is the SLO pedal an option ? I’ve got pedal and the mini and I much prefer the pedal but then you’d need a clean platform for it
 
another head even if it is mini seems like a pain in the ass, i would just get a flyrig or a distortion pedal and one of those pedal power amps i see now.
 
Thanks everyone for the replies! It is one of those situations where I have something as a backup, hoping I never have to use it but would be nice to have something I can use for recordings, etc if needed.

I have one of these. I havn't really used it much but it works damn well.

I use a EH 5MM…a 2.5 W power amp in pedal form. Has a volume pot and bright switch. Works really well.

The other guitarist in the band got himself a SLO mini. He showed up at a gig with it (not a big room) he said he was using it that evening. We are NOT mic ed he sounded thin and he fought feedback all night from trying to get the most out of the headroom
 
There's a use for the minis -I just can't figure it out . They're toys to me but it is cool that you can stick them in your back pocket and take them to a gig in case of emergency
 
It was sorta fun watching him keep 👀 back there at it and go back there twisting knobs and leaning his head down so he could hear himself and his leads. I don’t think it was a fun gig for him. You know I haven’t seen nor has he mentioned that mini since.
 
I grabbed a used Bogner mini for christmas with a GC Gift Certificate from a colleague. I could not possibly be more impressed with how dam good it sounds. I’m driving a G12EVH loaded 4x12 with it and it is definitely plenty loud to rehearse with drums, bass and vocals. It sounds great at bedroom levels, but sounds really convincingly ‘organic’ as you wind up the volume. The series of ‘designer’ mini heads are more impressive that you expect. And paying under $200.00 for a clean used one is money you’ll never regret spending.
