UPS can blow me

Guy here wanted an amp, I had that amp, and as we all know, if shipping companies don’t pack it, they won’t pay if something happens to it, EVEN if you pay for insurance.

Amp wasn’t super rare, but it IS discontinued and I wanted it insured for full value so dude and I talked about it and decided to go ahead.

Dropped amp off, explained to the counter person what was up and she assured me they knew what they were doing.

Dude gets amp yesterday and sends me this pic

Which is just ridiculous. They won’t pay a claim unless they pack it, and then they pack it like that.

Thankfully nothing happened, amp was fine as far as we can tell but CMON.

I’m done. Shipping companies DGAF any more, no more selling amps or guitars.

My local shop has a consignment program and a Reverb store, anything else I want to off goes thru them.

Tired of these companies not giving any fucks about the ONE job we pay them to do.
Well, if it made it safe maybe that is code for handle this one with extreme care. They would have had to handled it gently if it didn't get damaged being packed like that.

What's the best way to ship an amp and get insurance?

My UPS shipping location is awesome and they are always polite, helpful, etc. I think the problem is really with the gorillas throwing amps off of thr trucks, etc. Granted the company should figure out what happened. You should take a picture and show it to them.

What local shop are you talking about? I have to ship an amp and I am very interested if I could use them to help me.

Guitar Czar, like 5900 S. State St or so, next door to Salt City Drums.

It’s not like that though Chad….they’re not a shipping service, they just take consignments in addition to selling amps and guitars and doing tech work.

You’d have to sell it through them for them to ship it, so they’d take a cut.

The last guitar I shipped showed up at the buyer’s house covered in blue paint and lacquer thinner….. and the box was mangled. At least the guitar was in one piece and so was the case. How does that even happen??

does anyone use dhl? we have that in europe snd i have used it fir tools and important paperwork. they are a little expensive but always have tracking and good result so far. have not tried gear yet

You got to find a good one not through ups or FedEx . I go to a guy that does pro audio stuff like full old neve mixing boards and super expensive paintings . He’s probably like a 1 and a million though .

DHL driver tried to break in my house cause I was slow getting to the back door he came to (instead of the front like normal people) and he thought no one was home. I nearly shot him.

I worked for UPS once. They treat their people like hebrew slaves. They don't have time to be gentle. Fuck UPS.

We have that here too but they pass it off to USPS. Not worth it.
