UPS ruined my incoming used guitar day

I purchased a nice Carvin V220 off GC's used site and was pumped about getting it yesterday. I had the day off and when it started getting late, I checked the tracking number expecting it to be delayed because of high volume of deliveries. To my surprise, it said package was delivered and received by someone at the door. I called UPS and explained that the package was not delivered to me, but to the wrong address. They said they would open an investigation that would last 1-3 weeks. I'm pissed that now I don't think I'm ever going to get the guitar and also I'm out $1000. I'm not holding my breath that UPS will compensate me, and if they ever do, it will probably take forever. Not sure if Guitar Center will do anything or not. I'm more upset with whoever the asshole was that accepted the package knowing damn well that it wasn't theirs. Really sucks because these guitars don't pop up often for a decent price anymore.

They are a damn logistics based company, they can't easily find out where it was delivered? Hopefully wherever they delivered it to, that person is honest and maybe recieves a lot of packages, didnt realize it, and will return it.

You can use your credit card company to fight this, if you don't receive it, or GC doesn't help you. But, since they are the shipper I'd imagine it's on them to do a trace on it. I'd call them.

I know how you feel man, I had a pack of strings delivered to a house down the street earlier this week.

My neighbors brought them over the next day though

Sorry to hear that. Hope is aorts out with the best outcome for you.

I would contact Guitar Center ASAP.

I had a similar issue with FedEx earlier this year. I bought a $500+ camera from KEH (they sell new/used gear, not entirely unlike GC) and it was delivered to the wrong house, complete with a photo of the package on someone else's porch. I contacted them and they were able to open a Fedex claim, and within about a week offered me a refund or replacement. Although I wouldn't expect that level of service from GC, hopefully they at least have a straightforward process for when this happens.

As luck would have it, I was impressed with how they handled my situation that I spent $200 on a lens from them about a month later. FedEx proceeded to deliver that one to the wrong address as well. Somehow they managed to get that one to me about a week later, after I'd found another one locally.

Hopefully with GPS technology they can verify it was sent to the wrong place, maybe even retrieve it.

sorry to hear about the fuckery!

I recently ordered a combo from Amazon in an effort to avoid UPS/Fedex fuckery, thinking that their shipping would be reliable, since a truck is always around. No! They used the USPS.

I saw on Amazon tracking that the item was delayed by a day. The next evening, I received a notification that the combo was delivered to a locker where I live. There are no lockers. I looked all around.. no combo. Of course, that was a Saturday night, so I get home Monday to see a "final attempt" slip in my mailbox. If they delivered it to a locker, why did they "attempt" again? There was info on the slip about requesting a pickup somewhere, and of course the service was unavailable for this delivery. I first assumed the POS mail person pulled the locker bs to cover another delay, but I now just assume that the POS did not want to load the combo and deliver it, since it is heavier than a letter and all of the coupons they stuff in my mailbox. Simply too fucking lazy to make an additional trip, overload their cart, hurt their back (30lbs), or whatever. The resolution required two calls to Amazon. The first dipshit said that they would provide a refund, yet I got a notice stating that the refund would be applied when Amazon receives the amp. The second call got the refund with no more bs. I thought about calling the USPS, but I don't want them fucking with my future mail, and lesson learned. No more orders if someone is going to use USPS.

If the package was "delivered," then someone unlawfully has it. I thought about telling the USPS that I was going to call the police since a theft "must have occurred" but decided against it. Assholes!

I hope this works out for you!!

for anyone digging this style of guitar, there is a green one here (scroll to bottom) https://www.guitarattic.com/used-guitars

I had this happen with a pistol barrel I shipped USPS Priority Mail. It went to one of those huge mailbox clusters in an HOA in FL. Their GPS said it was delivered and I'm sure it was, but to the wrong mailbox, which was probably no more than a few feet or even inches from the correct one, as they were all in a cluster. They denied my insurance claim and, after I appealed a few times, they even told me I was lucky they weren't referring me for prosecution for shipping a gun without an FFL. Un-effing-real.

I shipped a vintage guitar to a luthier in Ohio recently for some work. I hid an Apple AirTag inside of the control cavity. Worked really good. $30 and you can track it in case they "lose" it.

A buddy of mine shipped a Diezel Hagen a couple months ago and it magically disappeared from UPS custody. How you can lose a behemoth like that is ridiculous. Some guitar playing UPS employee got a free amp, I'm sure.
