Cant beat the good old Chinese reissue greenbacks, cheap and no blanket effect like the heritage stuff.

....a side note to you kid's from your ol Unkle John.
While I was swapping speakers in the Marshall cab,I decided to swap two Scumback H75 65 watter's
into a Bogner OS 2x12. Which by the way is a BIG IMPROVEMENT (to my ears anyway)

As I picked up the cab,I hear a rattle.Figured it was the slide lok casters.
I go to pull the casters off and I hear this"something sliding inside"
My dumbass left a set of needle nose pliers in the cab.

So,count your tools BEFORE you button up the cab

Applies to cab mechanics and surgeons.....

-speaker voicing plays a bigger part in speaker mixing than db's-

-right now people are using 3 greenbacks, and 1 V-30,

-I'll gladly take all those p.o.s. CELESTION HERITAGE EVH's that everyone hates-

Celestion recommends not mixing speakers in the same cab that have greater than 2db's difference. Granted, you put anything into any cab you want. Never know if you'll like it unless you try, but a significant difference in db's between speakers would drive me crazy. I'd feel like my cab was off-balance sound wise. As always, ymmv.

I have an EVH gb cab alongside a Randall V30 cab, the evh cab is definitely quieter. With two separate cabs it doesnt matter, can stand where it sounds best. In the same cab wouldnt be ideal though, you would mostly hear the v30s unless maybe you put the GBs on the top of a slant cab

I'll change it up a little. I had a Marshall 1960a slant cab where I had 2 Marshall branded Vintage 30 and 2 G12T75s in an X pattern. I did this in 2005? because Bogner and Splawn were doing it and I was pretty happy with the added mids with my 50cl. Last summer, I swapped out the T75s for the VHT P50e.
Now it is the Marshall Vintage and P-50e. I lost some bottom end, but I have the eq model if I want to shape it more than the knobs. I'm pretty happy with it but I don't fire it up much. I mostly practice with a Yamaha thr. In the last few years, there have been a few people experimenting with the P-50e on You Tube.
question for you all:
I remember looking around for the sensitiviy rating of both the Marshall labeled Vintage 30 and the VHT P-50e. Does anyone know those off the top of their head? They are both 16 ohm models (I think thats all they are made as).
Thanks!

In a Mesa Traditional 4x12 I’ve got Heritage GB’s on top and V30’s bottom and it’s a great mix.
The GB’s are darker and aren’t honkey in the mids like V30’s. They’re chewy af and the mids grind hard.
The V30’s are definitely louder but you can hear what the Greenbacks are bringing just fine.

I remember I once brought my Marshall cab with V30's and H-75's to band practice, and we plugged my guitarist's Rockeverb to both my cab and his. His cab is loaded with T-75's and Creamback M-65's, and we had to check that his cab was plugged in at first because we couldn't hear it over my cab, LOL.

I just remembered I have two EVH M’s
( Heritage’) on the top. A ’96 Celestion V30 and a ‘04 Marshall Branded V30 on the bottom

I hated the EVH greenbacks. Cab was too dark and thin sounding. Also kinda blanket over the speakers.

Yesterday I brought my EVH 2x12 Combo to jam practice with another guitarist, and the reissue Greenbacks sounded way better. It cut just fine, and I could hear myself fine. I was worried cuz I was playing a Splawn 4x12 before with the Stealth, and although the 2x12 combo didn't sound quite as 3D, it flowed in the mix really nice. All channels instead of being woofy and too big.

I might be done with 4x12's?
The 2x12 has the G12H30 Anniversary Speakers.....which are considerably brighter than the EVH Greenbacks.

I ended up with an additional cab. An Avatar 2x12 with G12H30 (hellatone) as an 8 ohm cab. Great cab. I use it with my DSL40CR. I once A/B it with the evh 2x12 G12H30 16 ohm cab and heard very little difference

Necro bump....I tried the combo in an uberkab with the Uber Ultra. V30 bottom G12H on top, definitely was not my thing. Although the Greens were brand new and not broken in, they sounded decent but I go for a specific sound and the 75s worked better.

Hello decade old thread!

V30's and Heritage GB's can sound great together in a 4x12. Just put both the GB's on top so they're closer to your ears and the cab will sound a lot more balanced.
