H30's have a lot of lows, low mids and highs. The mids and upper mids are pretty scooped out...playing with the band the sound disappeared. I can see why they were bass speakers. Very confusing speakers.....

Agreed but they still tend to honk real bad. Instead of the cool Greenback honk, H30s have that annoying "Bad to the bone" honk

I don't really hear the honk in the G12H30's. With the somewhat scooped midrange they do pair up with a mid/uppper mid heavey amp like a Vox. I really like them personally, but they sure don't work with all my amps.

Yeah, the H30's pair well with high mid voiced amps. Anyone have any ideas on something to pair with a V30 for a low-mid voiced amp?

I didn't read this whole thread. But I HIGHLY recommend the Mojotone BV-30H's for those who like the G12H Anniv. but wish it was a little smoother on the top end. This is now my favorite speaker.

I have 2 of the handwired cabinets and I'm kinda in love /hate with them . Even though blackba is from Michigan his assessment of the situation is right on.I would never use these in a metal high gain situation personally, I think the v-30's sound better and I really don't think they sound great in all that many situations a little to ice picky for me .

Just my .02

Jason,

You should have come by and picked this thing up....

I'd say V30's have the upper-mids and a bit tighter low end.
The V30's are quicker in response would be much better for tight super high gain
chunk.
I like both for different things and different amps.
I like H30's for moer Hendrixy classic to hard rock.
They're fatter and creamier.
H30/V30 is a KILLER mix in a 4X12.
V30's are the bomb in bogners also.

Not sure what the 'even though blackba is from Michigan' comment is about, but I got a chuckle from it :D

You know I gotta to have two cabs...

Funny I am looking at options for speakers. I play Marshalls and use V30 in a 4X12. Sounds good but kind of shrill and lead tone a little thin. the GH12-30would be a great choice I am thinking for my amps. On th GH12-30 med gain clip you can hear how the tone sustains better with the GH12-30.

hmmm...I was thinking the same thing. Like Michigan peoples opinions don't normally count or somethingl lol. Either way, I'm wondering what speakers are in the fryette cabs. Do they still come with the eminence p-50Es? I had a VHT cab with those speakers and I loved them. I had a dual recto and krankenstein at different times and both were underachieving through an avatar cab, switched to the vht and hellfire came out of both of those amps. Actually the cab alone changed my opinion on what those amps were capable of. I'm not too much of a Marshall guy so I didn't get a chance to use one through that cab but I couldn't see it sounding bad. I think you'll be satisfied

+1  - you name it!

I prefer the G12H30 over the V30 for my Schmidt even for highgain sounds - but for a vintage clean and crunch sound the G12H30 are best.

The mids are more even on the h30. and the highs, while not as harsh as the v30 can be, can be a little fizzy/fuzzy imo. Ive been on v30s for the past 9 years and like them. I just recently got some h30s and they are deffinately hitting the spot for me. goes great with my stiletto.
