Vader Cabinets Are Back

How many cabs you have? I have a mills acoustic, and a lot of guys talk about how they are boomy or directional. The thing works really well in my space. All I can find are people talking about how bad the Vaders sound, but i am sure that isn't the case otherwise they wouldn't be so popular. What do you think?
I owned both those cabs. I dunno what people are talking about with the Mills being directional - boomy, maybe. Now the Vader - THAT'S a directional cab. The Emi Legends he puts in those cabs sound great with some amps and really terrible with others. I was a big fan of that sound for a while but then, almost overnight, couldn't stand it anymore. The Mills sounded great with everything. Only reason I sold it was because I got my Emperor 4x12. Haven't bothered looking at 4x12s since. Everything I plug into that cab is gold.

Maybe they will have some stock speaker-mix options and/or custom selection options.

Once I changed the speakers in mine, I liked it. The stock Eminence speakers are flat and unflattering, almost to a point. My guess is that it's supposed to play nice with any amp, but neutral is really boring when compared to good amp and speaker combinations. So, my buddy did the V30/H30 combo in the 2x12 when he had it and it worked well. He kept the speakers when he sold it to me with the OE speakers. I have them sitting in a box, and I have Mesa V30s in it. I like it a lot with V30s.

I wish them success. Wood prices are still very expensive. I’m guessing an empty cabinet will cost $700-$800. Fully loaded around $1,500.

The speakers they used suck, but another issue for me is that bed liner makes an awful cabinet covering. It would take a hit and the wood beneath the tough liner wold compress and dent inwards, from there the bed liner would start chipping away. It honestly wasn't any tougher than regular tolex. Sure, it doesn't rip like tolex, but it chips instead. Also, that tough liner shit would tear up upholstery if you dragged it across anything in a vehicle, much more than tolex. So it was a cool idea, but in practice for a gigging musician I didn't really think it was an improvement on tolex or anything. The cabinets themselves seemed well constructed, no complaints there. Yank the Emis for V30s is what I did.

I wished they'd had payed the designer who made their logo better.
