I think Steve Lukather used to play them before he went to Ernie Ball. VA used to have a huge storefront in Cologne, Germany, sort of an early version of a Guitar Center. I used to go there a lot when I lived there and always loved playing those guitars. Yes, they are high quality. I don't know that they're worth what they're going for these days, since you can buy/build the very same thing for a fraction of the money. But they are good guitars. I built an HSS Strat with ORF and birdseye maple neck with abalone fret inlays for under $1k and I'd put that up against any of those VA guitars.

Prices are jacked as they are in Japan... along with most every other Japan guitar/amp listing on eBay or Reverb. The prices are completely jacked and out of whack overpriced.

Valley Arts was the Anderson/Suhr of the early '80s in the LA area. All the studio guys like Luke, Landau, Huff used and played them. Quality is great (despite the funky headstock)... I wouldn't put it above a brand new Anderson/Suhr though. The main luthier from Valley Arts' hey-day now works at Ernie Ball MM... so that would be another options as well. Similar play/feel to some of the VA Pro models.

Pretty crazy. About 10-12 years ago you could pick these guitars up for dirt cheap. I guess the LA super studio shredder guitars are back en vogue.
