The biggest part of what is giving that sound it's character is the W/D/W setup and an Eventide H3000 harmonizer set for delay and micropitchshift. (-9 cents/500ms delay Left, +9 cents/250ms delay Right, center cab is just the sound from the amp). Almost any high gain amp is gonna sound like this tone with that setup. Cool tone for sure, easy to get with an H3000 or similar harmonizer, although the Eventides have a pretty unique sound to me...

I always wondered how you would translate this tone to the FOH with mic'ing.
Use 3 channels on the board, pan the wets and center the dry?
I had read somewhere (recently, in fact) that for FOH, EVH sends the W/D/W mic'd signals as well as the Palmer PDI03 direct signal, and the FOH guy blends them all to create the tone we hear in the PA.
That is correct, sir!

So then, this spawns my next question: if the soundguy isn't panning (just mixing levels) then why have 2 wet cabs? Wouldn't it sound the same FOH if you had a single wet and a single dry cab? You can run this combo of delays/pitch shift to one cab and make it sound the same as two cabs FOH.
I apologize, don't mean to derail the thread. I'm sure this has been hashed out somewhere in this forum before. I've just been very curious about how to translate a W/D/W rig in a live setting because I'm thinking about giving it a shot. It sounds like it's all in the hands of an experienced engineer.
