At risk of starting an ad nauseam Sammy vs Dave thread, I found this live cut of Ed using a very cool EBMM EVH 6 string bass over 6 string midrange. I would love to have one, and there are only two production models out there.

We're doing Back In The Saddle and Rats In The Cellar... An Axis 6/6 would be perfect! :)

Not a double neck though.. Not that I know of.. I think ernie ball sterling might have. Not sure.

I'm pretty sure that guitar was made for Eddie only. That vid brings back memories!

I shamelessly say that is my favorite live recording of Van Halen, although I prefer the CD version (some different cuts from other shows on that tour were used). I'm young enough to say it and get away with it :p

If I remember right, that guitar is indeed a one-off just for EVH. I always loved that song but never knew how the heck it was played on a regular guitar - BECAUSE IT WASN'T!

I guess it's impossible not to discuss DLR vs SM... So be it.

I don't know why there would be any shame involved? Not only is Sammy Hagar a rock icon who writes great music - he's an original! I love DLR era VH, but Dave was never an original. I would say Black Oak Arkansas was Van Halen's biggest influence.

One of the best live rock cuts ever! Sound familiar?

Anyone notice Tommy Aldridge on that second video?
