Here we go...

Alright, thanks to SOME of you unrelenting, pushy, sonically narcissistic bastards...(!!!) I'm going to be trying out a Herbert for a couple weeks :D I've been given an opportunity through my distributor to take a demo and see what I think. I feel good about this, as I am pretty tight gripped on my VH4S to consider giving it up. But seeing this opportunity came along, may as well make use of it.

Stay tuned.

V.

PS - easy there, Mailman1971...I know what you and Pauly are gonna be saying!! :aww:

We are waiting your verdict!!!

(VH4 foreva'!!!)

Sorry, but the Herbert is freaking unreal. I give the amp a 1% chance that it's going back.

Aw don't you worry... I'm just 'trying it out' as a loaner, my V's not going anywhere...at least, not that I can surmise at this point in time. As James put it - Mr. Lugo that is - it's too versatile an amp to give up. I'm over-the-moon with the 1st channel for its cleans and ability to take my stomps. Channel 2 is awesome for the crunchy stuff. Channel 4 is actually pretty awesome IMHO, with the right EQ and gain pulled back a bit...

And then there's Channel 3. Having added a slight delay with the TimeFactor, and sometimes even a hint of reverb a la EHX Cathedral Stereo Reverb, it's bloody delicious!!

I'm cool. I'll just hang with Herb and see if he's all that and then some.

Thats my Boy!!!

I think once you plug into the Herbert.......Stick a fork in. Your done!

Nah.....give it a whirl....I am sure you will see it does live up to the Hype!
Channel 2+ with a clean boost and everything set on noon. ROCKS HARD!!
I dont really get into the Mid cuts like I thought I would. Never turn it on even.

Super kick ass amp.....your gonna love it!

I really like the mid cut on with the intensity at about 8:30-9:00 and the level at about noon
It really dosen't scoop the mids but just adds a little something.
The clean boost is the bomb on almost everything especially channel 2-

...go away. You're BOTH picking on me. I'm having a sensitive moment... Bastards

Leave me alone :aww:

I have mine set up where I click the Boost on 2+ with the gain about noonish.....and its Hair Metal land ........PERFECTLY. Then I click off the boost and its Oldschool AC/DC land!
What a great amp.....I need to play around with the Mid cut a little more.
But i am digging it so much that I get locked into these great tones and forget all about the switch. All my old amps I was CONSTANTLY messing with the dials. The Herbert is pretty much perfect with everything at noon.
Well at least for me it is! ;)

Ch2 is simply incredible..from clean,slight OD..to ubermetal tone!
Without midcut in ch2/3 ,gain at noon, many reminisences of VH4 but also many differences.
With very hot pickup for rythm ch2 + gain at 2/3 midcut on...............unbeliaveble..brutal,percussive,loud,open sounding but remains musical.
Ch3 with midcut, gain at 1..more gain than ch2 but also more compression..brutal with my strato :D ..turn off midcut and liquid lead.
Ch1 is very different from VH4 :less dry (VH4 dryness is a pro imho) awesome even without any fx.

Try the Herbie Ventura! :D

be prepared to keep both brotha...i just saw this thread or i woulda chimed in MUCH sooner!!! :D Join the club...keep both!!

There ya are m'man... Well, as mentioned, it's a only for a couple weeks I get to have the Herbert, but at least I'll know what it's all about.

If it's worth it, for sure, I'll throw down for it and keep the V...

In the meantime, thanks for the chime in - I'll let ya know when Herb arrives
