I'm not a member of The Gear Forum but when I do go there anonymous-like, I notice a lot of tan pants guys posting there that have been on my TGP ignore list for years. I had forgotten all about them and their antics.
 
Hopefully it doesn't kill the site off completely...

It's my go-to resource for used pedals & guitar parts.

Brief search seems to imply they are like vulture capitalists of webforums where they have been buying up thousands of forums, harvesting all the data, spamming the fuck out of them with ads until the traffic is run into the ground and then they shut the site down.

Makes a lot of sense when you see how many goddamn banner ads are on any thread page. They are just all over the thread. You think it might be over, but no, just scroll through three ads and the posts will continue. I’ve clicked on so many ads accidentally because I thought I was hitting reply for a post, but the page shimmied as it loaded more stuff.
