VH140c vs iic+

Damn! That thing sounds massive in both clips. I just looked up that amp on Reverb and they've not cheap. But considering the sounds you can get, it's well worth the price IMO.

Did Lee Jackson design that amp?
Check your local Craigslist. Combos are fairly common for $500 give or take.
Randall RG100’s are equally killer as well.

I'd rather use the Vh140c tone in a mix personally. Thanks @RaceU4her

They both sound very similar, and like them both about the same. I'll say that the ampeg is a little more aggressive but the iic+ has a warmer more organic tone.

I don't like either tone, but the IIC+ has way more clarity. I recently owned, and sold, a VH-140C a few months ago. The combo was near impossible to sell. Finally ended up selling it on Reverb for a lot less than a head would sell for, but I just wanted the space at that point. This was the second time I owned one and I was actually really surprised with the clean channel. No one ever talks about it with these amps and I assume I didn't care about it last time, but that clean channel and chorus is gorgeous. If it wasn't so damn big, I would've kept it just for that!

I'm hoping the next "trend" or "revival" in death metal is the Ampeg and Valvestate tones. The HM2 trend was kind of annoying

That is interesting to hear that you had such difficulty in selling the vh140c. I live in the most densely populated vh140c area in the country (they were made here) and they sell in hours. I agree with the clean channel comment, and if you crank that chorus rate and depth up...that is a unique sound!

hmm, really liked how clear/articulate the IIC+ was in comparison. Dammit.

next ill try layering them, maybe back off the gain a bit on the iic+ and use the ampeg for the grit
For even more grit try a Gup Tech Que Bec in the loop for the presence function. It really brings the aggression and clarity next level with less fuzz.

Yeah, I had mine listed for like 4 months and literally didn't have a single message on it. I think I had it down to $4 or 500 locally at the end. I was offering to trade it for cheapo $300 guitars and no one wanted it. I was planning to build a custom head shell for it and sell it for 3x the price, but I decided to list it on Reverb for $800 to see if I could save myself the time and effort and it finally sold in a few days.
