VH4 2002 version or 2008 version? (used)

Since Peter is not willing to give me an advice, I need your help! Hopefully you can give me an advise!

I' interessted in a used VH4 + cab. Therefore I have found 2 different sellers:

1. VH4:
It's a 2002 version. The last tube change was in 2008. There is a little problem with the button of the 3. channel: contact fault. But nothing you can't fix with a contact spray. The problem is, that I want the "new VH4 sound" and so I have to forward the VH4 to Peter (approx. 150 € for new tubes + approx. 100 € for the transport from Austria to Germany + approx. 150 € for a flight case). The amp plus cab would cost me 2.050 €. That would be approx. 2.450 € with the changes and the flight case.

2. VH4:
The second VH4 is a 2008 version. Last tube change was in mid 2009. With cab the price would be 2.600 €.

That's a difference of approx. 150€ (for sure I would have a flight case, but I'm not needing it very much).

What would you chose?

I'll look a little more at this post, but something turned me off as soon as I read the 1st line about Peter not being helpful... You're not going to get jack shit sympathy from me, sorry. Peter is totally on top of helping all of us out here at RT, and he's been nothing but responsive to my, and several of my friend's needs, questions and concerns. So, not trying to be an *sshole or anything, I guess I'm just a bit protective over Papa and all his peeps.

That being said... Get the newer one - very easy decision in my opinion.

I would get the newer one as well.
I am sure Peter DOESNT want to help....he is probably busy.
It does happen when you own a booming business.
He has been VERY VERY Helpful with my dumb questions.

Da hätte ich noch eine Frage:

Ich habe ein zweites Angebot bekommen bzgl. VH4. Diesesmal ein 08er Exemplar. Beide würde ich zusammen mit je einer 2x12er Box (2002er Version beim 2002er VH4, 2008er Version beim 2008er VH4) gebruacht erwerben können. Der Preisunterschied würde insges. 550 EUR betragen, wobei anzumerken ist, dass das ältere Exemplar beim 3. Kanal lt. Verkäufer scheinbar einen Wackelkontakt aufweist. Das bedeutet, dass der Channel zwar über Midi-Board ohne Probleme anwählbar ist, dieser jedoch beim manuellen Drücken des Knopfes am Amp öfters nicht reagiert. Lt. Verkäufer ein Manko, dass man mit Kontaktspray schnell beheben kann. Die Röhren wurden lt. Verkäufer 2008 von dir persönlich getauscht. Beim 2008er Expemplar wurden die Röhren vor ca. 1/2 Jahren getauscht und waren seit dem ca. 40 Std. im Einsatz.

Da ich aus Österreich komme, müsste ich dir den 2002er VH4 im Flightcase schicken, welches mich wiederum ca. 150 EUR kosten würde und ich ansonsten eigentlich nicht wirklich benötige und eine Versandgebühr von ca. 100 EUR (versichert). Damit verringert sich für mich die Differenz zwischen älterem und neuerem VH4 auf ca. 300 EUR.

Zu welchem Kauf würdest du mir raten?

Each one is a different beast. Its up to you since your the one going to be playing it not him.
I have the older one...and LOVE IT!!
What is called the "Classic" VH4....
has more then enough gain and sounds like a Million!!

D. Peter has personally done things for us that are way above and beyond what any other company will do for you.
I remember him him calling me in 1999 from München at 3:00 in the morning just to make sure everything was alright with
my new VH4.

E. This is not a Fan Boy forum. We have all mostly been with Peter's amps for many, many years and will defend him and his designs.
We don't lather praise on Diezel's for one month and spend the next year trashing them because a preamp tube went bad
or the amp was left out in the rain and does not work.

and You would safe some money. On the other hand
the newer one don´t need a drive to Bad Steben.
