Yes! Been using V30's up until now. Plugged the VH4 into my Bogner 4x12 with Greenbacks for the first time and holymuthafuckinshitballs! Sounds great. I wonder how it would sound with G12-65's? Anybody?

Here's a quick clip. Sounds like poop! :) You have my awesome webcam to thank.

Flat EQ

Boosted mids

A lot of it depends on what you like to do with the mids on the VH4. I tried mine with the Greenies, but went back to the front load 30 cab for the bottom end as they have a little mid hump in them anyway and dialing the mids in didn't take away some of the thump.

I LOVE THE GREENBACKS!!!

V30s are pretty nice, but starting to like greenies.

I have a quad of vintage 65's in the mail. I'll let you know how it goes.

Please do!

For the record, on Channel 3 my mids are maxed. And with Greenbacks, I get a MEAN mid-range growl, reaching Marshall territory.

Thats the difference between Diezel amps and for example Marshall.

I had a Marshall DSL before my Schmidt. The DSL doesn´t sound good with V30. The sound was to trebly and too much upper mids.

With the greenies it worked much better.

Now with the Schmidt both speaker work well and I think some others too.

If you play hardrock or metall and you like mids and good working speakers because of only 25Watts give the greenies a try.

V30 are really good but they make your amp loud. With the greenies you can push your amp more.

Your gear will allways sound better with an amp working with half power and good moving speakers.

Near their limit the greenies have a nice natural compression which many players love so much...me too!

keep on rockin

I've been mixing v30s w 65s for years. My fave combo.

Someone just had a quad for sale on the classifieds. They are still made in the UK too. A little bit pricey for the new one's though. But, they are just a little higher output than a G12M and voiced about the same.

Steve

They are expensive (the reissues) but they sound very close to the originals. I have 1 cab w originals and the other w the reissues, and they sound the same to me. $180 US $$$ each!

Same tone at higher power rating would be great. The G12Ms are some of the smoothest, full-frequency speakers out there (that still retain low end!) although their maximum power handling is a bit of a downside in terms of life expectancy.

Yeah, the lower power handling of the G12M's is the only thing I don't like. That's why the G12-65's seem like a good deal to me. Basically a Greenback with higher power handling.

I mixed Greenbacks with G12K100 in my Diezel FL and I´m very happy with this mix. The Greenbacks give the whole thing more dirty mids while not having as much bass as the K100. Here´s a little clip. Panned the Greenback to the left (SM57 center) and the K100 to the right (AKG C214 center). Solo is the Little Joe...

Thanks! It starts getting better :) But there´s still a lot of work for the perfect sound

FourT6and2, it would be great if you could record one of your clips, to hear the difference with your Mesa cab. I'm really interested (i own the same Mesa cab) :scared:

I could do that. Maybe in the next few days. The Bogner w/Greenbacks isn't as harsh as the Mesa. It handles the low-end better (from the cab, not the speakers). And the GB's have that great mid-range. I'll see what I can do.

Interesting thread... Are the 65's discontinued or something?? Gotta admit, I'm still very pleased with the straight up G12K100 4x12 under my VH4S. It's linear and spankin'... But threads such as these always pique my curiosity.
