Interesting thread... Are the 65's discontinued or something?? Gotta admit, I'm still very pleased with the straight up G12K100 4x12 under my VH4S. It's linear and spankin'... But threads such as these always pique my curiosity.

Yeah, they stopped making the 65's in the 80's. They've brought 'em back though as part of the heritage series. But they're not the same. Since the GB's are only 25 watts it's a lot easier to push 'em. And it seems like the amp isn't as loud even though it's a 4x12. But damn it sounds really good. I mean, my draw dropped. It was like I flipped a switch and all of a sudden my VH4 sounded like how a VH4 sounds when you've never heard one before. :D

Thanks. Ya, you're right...sounds like poop. Very muddy with no definition. Might be the webcam. Something's up...maybe settings? Here's some Undertow through my crappy Marshall MG head and MG cab...recorded with my crappy Macbook mic.

iMovie was screwing up the audio. I'm re-uploading it.

I played a Bogner 4x12 with Greenbacks with my VH4 on a concert once (with my metallband) and the sound was GREAT! This is why I changed 2 of the K100 in my cab.

Ok, whew, both are better. I didn't know you could take the same movie and change the audio so drastically with iMovie. That's pretty cool. I was hoping that rig would sound better than your first clip...I've got a VH4 coming pretty soon, made me nervous :). Thanks for taking the time and sharing.

Wow, thanks for the clips!! they sound amazing to me. As you said, they do not sound that "harsh" as the Mesa.

Mmmm... is it time to change my Mesa cab? (well, I've been thinking on this for a year).

I don't think it's the cab so much as the speakers. But a 4x12 is going to sound much better than a 2x12.
