Hartmut, it's probably the drums and possibly the vocal you'd hear that in rehearsal room effect from as the guitars are dry with as much proximity as possible (don't have a killer interface to add more).

I'm going to remove all the upper freq mastering EQ from the guitar in the mix and try it again, I think they're a tad bright from the source tone.

Nbarts, laptop speakers are a rough way to hear anything musical, but that 2" technique is clearly not one I dig hearing which is what makes tone such a personal thing.

I was curious what the rig would sound like if I ditched the BBE in hopes of a more organic sound that I've heard in some of the clips on the Diezel site. Here's what the BBE does to this amp, the dials were on 0 and 0.

This is what I settled on with the BBE and EQ settings, mic and placement.

Here is what it sounds like without the BBE, everything else is the same as above.

I added 1 hour on the Treb knob to the above, no BBE

Here is the above with a .5db increase from 1250htz to 20k, no BBE

I'm probably going to ditch the BBE, I'm not that fond of what it does to the higher Freqs in this head.

Peter, curious which way you like it, I have a hunch. ;)

I would set the last sample in the mix and
see what happens. In sounds great in my
opinion, but I´m not the master of recording.

I think this is the best one so far. But to my taste its a bit to thick, perhaps too much gain. There is no real difference in tone when you strike an open chord and when you palm mute, which to me indicates a bit too much gain.

I really like the tone James Lugo has captured in this video.
From 6:50-> you can hear the VH4 (he uses channel 3 instead of 4):

I had a feeling Peter you'd like the added EQ, I'm curious, what monitors are you using to hear your clips with?

I have an Insignia system for my computer with the Sub at Noon and the Treb near 2pm. For this setup I liked No BBE + Treb, on my Yamahas I liked the No BBE + Treb + EQ due the Yamahas having a flatter/truer sound.

Hey Slaktarn, ya Chan 4 is thick, really thick. I have the gain at 11am and it's as far as I'd go too, I haven't tried lowering or raising it but now that I have a new setup, that's on the table to compare.

BTW, I use Chan 4 for rhythm because Chan 3 is more articulate and shredding leads on it had better tracking. This way I set up each channels knobs for either leads or rhythm, it was one reason I choose this head over the Herbert since I still have a low gain Chan 2 for those tones.

My other guitar buds like the head without the BBE too, not by much though.
