I love VM and think he's definately a caliber player that deserves a sig, but that one just doesn't quite do it for me...I dunno, kinda same same?

It is rather plain huh? I was thinking JS1200 at first when I first looked at it.

Not a fan of the headstock either but, a HUGE fanboy of the player! I lifted his picking technique from his 1st instructional video

I know Vinnie was with Ernie Ball for the longest time and never got a MusicMan sig guitar. Recently, another player received a MusicMan sig guitar bypassing Vinnie. I think that's what made Vinnie jump ship from Ernie Ball and sign up with Dean. As for the guitar, I don't dig the color all that much and I've never really been a Dean fan. Still, I'd like to check one out. :D

They had a discussion on the EB board about this when Sterling Ball announced that Vinnie would be leaving EB to have a sig model with another company. He went on to discuss his reasons for not having a signature model with Vinnie, chief among them being that as far as sig models go name recognition somewhat ties in with sales. From what he says, he and Vinnie have always had a great relationship, but from a business aspect, it didn't make sense to release a VM sig because he didn't think that Vinnie's name carried the draw or Petrucci, Lukather, or Steve Morse, and I think approaching it from that angle I agree. I love VM's music though, and I hear he's a hell of a guy, so I wish him the best of luck with his new guitars!

I think the guitar looks nice. I don't think that he has to reinvent the wheel. It's a nice understated guitar that has a very form follows function approach.

As far as the headstock... I actually like it better than the normal Dean headstock. YMMV.

I don't care for the guitar, but it's nice to see those Engl SE stacks in the background! I've always really liked Vinnie's playing, but sometimes I didn't care for his tone much...

probably plays like a dream, it is a dean after all. looks aren't too bad either. I love all their headstocks, so, yeah, i'm a dean fanboy :D

Wouldn't have a link to this thread would you?

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that there is any bad blood between Vinnie and EB...I really don't think so.

I can see why Vinnie would jump ship though. EB gave Benji Madden, of Good Charlotte, a sig guitar over Vinnie Moore. While Good Charlotte may or may not be a good band, I, for one, have never even heard of Benji Madden let alone consider him a stellar guitar player. Oh well, the powers that be make the decisions.

As you can imagine, the question about good charlotte guy comes up more than once every now and again...Sterling's participation is pretty good on the forum though; his take was that madden's appeal was a good chance to spread the EB name around, although I think I would have much rather seen a VM sig myself :D
