Ok here is the thing...

I have a great wet rig that I was building the last 2 years:

-ROLAND SDE 3000
-YAMAHA SPX 900
-MLC STEREO LINE MIXER
-TC GMAJOR
-PALMER MACHT POWER AMP

I want to get a reverb as well but was wondering whether I should simply add another rack or just get an Eventide H90 and replace the whole thing with it...

H90s ability to use each imput and output differently will get me where I want using the line mixer...

So go for a additional rack unit or sell all the effects and get the H90.

Using 2 at a time is not a major problem. This is how I have thought about it:

EVH-delay & micropitch
ZAKK-reverb & chorus(Leon Todd has a great how to do symponic)
RYTHM-reverb
LEADS-reverb & delay

Thanks

The H90 is cool, but a bit limited. What about picking up an Eclipse? Yes, I know it is different from the H90, but it’s a monster unit.

I would love an Eclipse, just to keep the rack format but its more than 1300€ used in Europe...

I can get the H90 1200€ new...

Eventide is killing us in Europe...

I have been using an H90 for a few months now. I have an Eclipse, DSP7000,H90 and an H9. So far there is nothing in the Eclipse that I have not been able to duplicate in the H90,plus the Eclipse lags changing algos where the H90 doesnt. You can absolutely ditch your mixer as you can run the effects in series or parallel globally or within each preset. If you keep the Roland, or another effect you can insert that between the two effects, before them or after, or in between in series or parallel all within the H90. I have to respectfully disagree with Dave on the unit being limited. There is so much more in the routing dept. that the Eclipse doesnt have.

As far as sounds go, the H9 against the Eclipse was no contest. The Eclipse absolutely killed it. The verbs was so sub par on the H9 it was a total disappointment. IMO the H90 is light years ahead of the H9 and can absolutely hang with the Eclipse. The ability to completely control all parameters right on the front of the pedal is something that they also dropped the ball on the H9, but made up for it with the H90. So far there isnt anything I havent been able to duplicate on the H90 from the Eclipse effect wise.

I am a rack guy since the late 80's and will always be.I would never ditch my big rack but thats not exactly portable or light for that matter. I use the H90 with the H9 on a shelf in a small rack. LOL I honestly dont think you would miss anything by getting an H90 over an Eclipse, and the routing features mean no more mixer! Good luck.

This is great to know !!!

I woudnt ditch the mixer...

I just like some dry signal into the wet cab...

How many individual effects does the H90 do? That's the biggest limitation for my H9 Max.

Interesting comparison to the Eclipse.

H90 works as a mixer?
Ok.. basically what the H90 does is you can insert via 1/4 stereo or mono and you you can route that insert with the H90 in either series, parallel and before and after the h90 effects. So lets say you are using the H90 with a delay unit. Your preset on the H90 has chorus and verb. so now you can run that external delay in between the chorus and verb, or place it before or after the H90 effects. This can be done globally or on a preset basis with any combo internally in the H90. Hope that explains it.
