Too loud. Blowing up equipment. Band members almost getting into fights. Audience heckling, singer losing his composure with hecklers...

Sounds like amateur night.

Find a new singer or find a new band if you don't want to be part of amateur night anymore.

I've played literally over a thousand gigs, many in places that were very rough spots and rough crowds, and our band never got into all of that drama. Yes, we've been in fights (that we didn't start or willingly get into), yes we've dealt with drunks, yes we've been asked to turn down, etc...but not all in the same night and we always handled it immediately and professionally.

Sounds like you would prefer to be a professional and certain other band members can't handle that. That sucks, hopefully you can find a new singer or band, because the type of person who yells out "suck my dick" to an audience isn't the type of person who will change their behavior after a discussion, this problem will continue with this singer. Good luck.

I think he (our singer) just flipped out from all the other bullshit that night and/or thought the guy was fucking with him.

But, I don't know... I'm leaving it up to the bass player to handle it, and should it happen again, I absolutely will say something, or hell, even stop playing, grab the mic, apologize to the audience, and then grab him and walk off stage.

I think the other problem is the guy who's running sound for us while our vocalist is on stage (he runs sound for other bands, but when we're playing, he can't) - the other guy turned it up when a friend of the band said it was too loud - his justification was " the mains were set higher the other night" - so, in a sense, he may have inadvertantly set another catalyst in place for what happened later that night. I'll mention that during next practice.

I read this and the first thing that popped into my mind was that Jeff did pack heat and shot someone :scared:

Glad it worked out Jeff.

Hell no, if I did something like that, the last thing I'd do is give any sort of evidence of my involvement! :)

Even then, if I had a CCW and had something in the car, I still have a gas pedal in the car, and Liz had her pepper spray.

Lawyers will ALWAYS think of how you could have escaped the situation, no matter how improbable given the situation, or what was going on around you. It's about the gun being drawn and being fired, not why...

I had an incident happen a few weeks ago, where a homeless guy caught me in a drive-thru. Obviously high/drunk, he stopped me in the drive thru by standing in the way - I thought he'd just not noticed that a truck was pulling through, and would go around the passenger side - nope, went to the drivers side, and I was so caught up in what the hell he was doing that by the time I realized it, he had his head halfway into my drivers-side window, demanding some change. I told him in a firm voice to keep moving, he turned around, leaned against my truck at the extended cab part for 15 seconds, then turned around again and mumbled something, and I told him again to keep moving, which after a few seconds, he did. I hadn't even made it to the drive-thru window yet, but this guy had the initiative and control over the situation. Freaky...I couldn't help but think...damn, I wish I had gotten my CCW and was packing...I would have felt a LOT more at ease. I rarely misjudge a situation, but I did that night...doesn't sound like much, but it wouldn't have been anything to someone as spun-out to go from demanding change, to attacking, and me, with my "always think the worst" mindset...yeah...

I mentioned that to a gun-owners forum, and they all said basically the same thing, it was really my fault that I allowed it to happen, and that packing wouldn't have solved it, but would have been a means to protect myself - but more importantly, even if he attacked me, I could have used a +3000lb weapon, instead of a 230gr one, my truck. I could have just taken off, and so what if he got hurt in the process. It's FAR better to explain to a judge/jury why you ran a guy over "getting away", than why you shot someone at point blank range, "standing your ground".

Anyhow...

Jeff...

Leave the gun at home. What is a homeless guy gonna be able to do to you in your truck? Roll your window up, man. Problem solved.

Yeah, a window sure does protect well :loco:

Fact is, you don't know what someone is capable of when they are intoxicated. If you can predict that, then you can pass judgement on me, otherwise, don't bother...

Good to see you're considering a man's gun. :D

I've got a Springfield 1911 "Loaded" Stainless

I've also got a Springfield XD-9, and a Beretta FS92 :)

Everyone should own at least one 1911. The Springfield Loaded is sweet.

I agree. I was thinking it'd be harder to handle than the XD-9, but really, other than it making a bigger, more authorative boom out the front end, it's not much more, if any, in terms of felt recoil - I just wish it had a bigger magazine!

That being said, the Beretta is the sweetest shooter of the bunch - just feels "right" in so many ways...

I've been thinking of a Rock Island for a while now too...there's a gun smith near my work that I handled his RIA, and it felt so damn smooth - of course, he'd tweaked it a bit.

You don't need a high capacity magazine when you're shooting a .45. ;)

If 9 rounds of .45 won't solve your problem you should have brought a shotgun.

But if you just gotta have more, try this on for size. A .50 Caliber 1911. :D

9?

Mine holds 7+1 =/

That said, I know what you mean, just when I hit the range with my 1911, I spend more time loading than I do shooting.

Yeah, the 1911 factory mags are 7 round but I guess I assumed that everyone used 8 round Wilson mags with their 1911s. You can get 8 round mags from most manufacturers, but spend the money on the Wilson and you'll never buy another magazine - 100% reliable.
