Just kidding VonBonfire! I've been curious about Tylers for a while (the woodiness of the neck pickup, the 80's clean and ripping leads I've heard on albums) but never had a chance to play one. Plus I've been wanting a slanted bridge in my guitar quiver for a while so I pulled the trigger on a JTG from Killerburst Guitars. Jon was great to work with! When I got the guitar (after changing the strings) I put aside the politics and where it was made and just played the guitar. I've had it about a week now. Straight to the point it is a great guitar and worth every penny. It is NOT a Chinese POS. There's nothing cheap feeling or sounding with the guitar. Even the case is quality. It appears the Chinese factory is creating a very solid foundation and the guys at Tyler are doing a great job dialing it in.

Normally I take any new guitar immediately to my tech to get 6150 stainless steel frets on it. I probably will at some point but right now I am having a lot of fun playing it as is. I've heard through the grapevine that Tyler will be offering USA loaded pickguards for these in the future and that will be fun to experiment with.

In regards to the headstock like many of you I was on the fence. Here's my impressions. First of all the headstock seems smaller in person and is proportioned to the guitar. Second of all when playing the guitar all I see is the tuning pegs and I don't even see the headstock.

Am I going to change my user name? No. Am I going to sell all my other guitars? No. Am I keeping this guitar until I die? Yep.

I guess now I know...

The headstock is always controversial :ROFLMAO:

Looks killer though @PlayAndersons ! That's exactly my style of strat, aesthetically, and I'm not really a strat guy

How is the neck and fretwork on it? That's supposed to be the absolutely killer part of Tylers so i'm interested to hear your take
Great question! The neck feels like unfinished maple. Very smooth feeling. When I have my tech work on my guitars I always tell him,"The strings gotta ring so I can make them sing." This guitar came setup this way. Fret work is fine. It had a little of that new guitar stiffness feeling but after putting a few hours on it, it has loosened up enough that I'm in no rush to get stainless steel frets on it. The neck has a solid 59 feel. it's not thin but still rip-able.

Let me just say congrats on selecting an absolutely beautiful JAMES TYLER guitar. White and gold, the best color scheme ever. And looks so good with that headstock which btw has a weird way of growing on you, doesn't it? At first you think "damn that's ugly" but it's like a 70's pimp cane and the longer you look the more you start to admire the jive-ass pimp tone it can produce. Nice score, may your new JAMES TYLER provide you tens of thousands of hours of enjoyment!!!

Another ten or fifteen VBF inspired JAMES TYLER GUITAR purchases on this forum and I should be getting my freebie for being such a supporter of the JAMES TYLER GANG!!!

I have some contacts in China, I wonder if we can set you up with an endorsement. Like a real 5:30 dinner, winner. I bet you we could get this done.

I am down for this. I would love to be endorsed by JAMES TYLER GUITARS.

Are you willing to share what build out the VB Shenzhen James Tyler would look like? I am thinking like a real Texas/Blade Runner aesthetic.
Similar to the OP's guitar, white with gold, except I need gold on the pickups and more JAMES TYLER GUITAR JAMES TYLER GUITAR JAMES TYLER GUITAR JAMES TYLER JAMES TYLER JAMES TYLER JAMES TYLER like an all over print on the back, creeping onto the front. and all over a painted neck. Anything that enhances the 70's pimp cane look would be acceptable and I like poly finishes because it makes for a more durable JAMES TYLER.

Yes, that with gold hardware is my dream Like a good meal plan you are much more of a visionary than me.

No beef against an all maple neck as that was my preference when playing strats. Please make this happen!!!!
