Just kidding VonBonfire! I've been curious about Tylers for a while (the woodiness of the neck pickup, the 80's clean and ripping leads I've heard on albums) but never had a chance to play one. Plus I've been wanting a slanted bridge in my guitar quiver for a while so I pulled the trigger on a JTG from Killerburst Guitars. Jon was great to work with! When I got the guitar (after changing the strings) I put aside the politics and where it was made and just played the guitar. I've had it about a week now. Straight to the point it is a great guitar and worth every penny. It is NOT a Chinese POS. There's nothing cheap feeling or sounding with the guitar. Even the case is quality. It appears the Chinese factory is creating a very solid foundation and the guys at Tyler are doing a great job dialing it in.
Normally I take any new guitar immediately to my tech to get 6150 stainless steel frets on it. I probably will at some point but right now I am having a lot of fun playing it as is. I've heard through the grapevine that Tyler will be offering USA loaded pickguards for these in the future and that will be fun to experiment with.
In regards to the headstock like many of you I was on the fence. Here's my impressions. First of all the headstock seems smaller in person and is proportioned to the guitar. Second of all when playing the guitar all I see is the tuning pegs and I don't even see the headstock.
Am I going to change my user name? No. Am I going to sell all my other guitars? No. Am I keeping this guitar until I die? Yep.
I guess now I know...
