Voodoo Amps

I want to add that when I did talk to him ,he told me he had a few guys working for him in the shop. So there’s no excuses why mods cannot be done within a few years.
I personally fell their time was put into building his voodoo amp line and not mods. But then again why not hire more help if you have the business?

I was one of them. It’s been a while but I recall I got charged something like $45 for 30 minutes. And it was me saying I want “x” mod done and he took over the conversation for 29 minutes.


The only professional thing this guy did was answer a call to his personal cell phone ( that I got luck and someone had the number )
And returned my amp the following week.

That is crazy, especially when you already confirmed you were getting the work done.

There are so many good resources on the net now, take a list of mods to a local guy after you get your amp back and you can probably scratch the mod bug that way. Or learn to do them yourself... I prefer working on amps compared to wiring guitars for example. But it can be finicky work.

That is something I would love to learn and do. I've only got a basic understanding of schematics and overall layout of the circuitry in amps but the way you can shape tone in the way you design the circuitry is extremely intriguing but also very complex. I've built about 3 guitars but that is extremely simple compared to amps.

Yea, he did the same, took over the conversation each time I was able to talk to him. Luckily I haven't been charged anything yet..

I saw him teching for Smashing Pumpkins at a couple shows in 2022.

He's been teching for a few bands the past 2 years, he's doing Bush's tour now, did AC/DC earlier this year or 2021.

I talked to him last year about getting my block letter 5150 modded. He told me that he had no ETA on how long it would take, and that he would charge a fee if I ever called for a status update. Needless to say, I didn’t send the amp to him…
 
Glad I saw this - I had been playing with the idea of getting some work done by Voodoo, but not now…

Consider yourself lucky and get your amps back unmodded.

I was at a NY amp show in 2008 and was excited to play Voodoo amps. I plugged and and thought it was absolute shit. Tried another amp and thought the same thing. Zero touch sensitivity or tone. Just my opinion.
 
I left a Vm yesterday and messaged him on FB. He got back to me on FB saying he would reach out today, nothing yet. We'll see...
 
Update, reached out to him on FB messenger Thursday, said he was goiong to be at the shop friday and let me know that he had located. Didn't hear anything so asked about it after 5 EST on FB messenger. He called and let me know that he will locate the amp monday. Didn't hear anything monday. Reached on FB messenger again monday after 5pm. Got back to me that evening saying they located my amp and got my current address info and all that. Asked him to send tracking info when it ships this afternoon and he acknowledged that he will send tracking once it's boxed and sent back. Finally startin to see something at the end of this tunnel
