Thinking about adding a wah pedal. What's everybody like?

Had a Dunlop Cry baby- didn't like it.

Had a Boss V-wah- didn't like it.

Want something with a lot of sweep, good solid construction, quiet, true bypass.

Probably don't want too fancy, but maybe I do? I don't know.

So far the Buddha and the Steve Vai Bad Horsie 2 look good.

What's everybody think?

Thanks!

My two favorite wah pedals to date were the George Dennis wah, and the Buddha. I still use the buddha, and love it. The george dennis was probably the smoothest I ever used though. I didn't really care for the morley/Bad Horsie so much. I agree about the Boss V-wah. It was "neat" at first, but the more I used it, the more I realized it just didn't cut it.

The Morley has that "when it is down it is bypassed" feature which seems kind of nice.

I've tried about every Wah pedal out there. The Budda is very nice. I still have it. I usually run the Morley Bad Horsie2. I just like the frequencies it rolls through and not having to step on a switch to turn it on is great. I also like the fact that it doesn't suck tone out of the front end of my signal chain. It's not a purist wah though since it's sweep range is narrower than some. But, that is one of the reasons I like it. It's voiced well and the whole sweep is usuable. The contour and boost functions are nice as well.

What did you like about the George Dennis? The ones I looked at online seemed like they weren't available yet.

i love my rmc wizard.. we'll see if i can dial the tone in with the axe-fx on wednesday.. if i can, well, the axefx will be my new favorite wah

The Axe-FX is pretty pricey, right? I can't go more than maybe 200 bucks if I do this.

I have one of their wah-volume switch models. I really like how smooth it is. To me, it's more versatile than anything else I've used. I love the Buddha, but it tends to loose definition at higher gain settings when playing multiple notes. (I am running it second in the chain after my compressor) The GD just has a smoothness to it that really loves both high gain and lower gain sounds. If I was going to buy another wah pedal, I would definitely get their GD-35, for the true bypass. It's actually in stock at pedalgeek.

I've been building some that sound awesome.I'm building them to vintage Clyde McCoy specs using the correct circuit board layout, proper gain range trannies,Whipple inductor, tropical fish and polystyrene caps.I even sourced out a stash of NOS 4uf Sprague electrolytic caps and they sound great in the circuit.I'll get some clips up soon.

Fulltone Clyde Deluxe will give you all the Wah your looking for and keep your Tone PURE.

That's the one I finally ended up getting. I really, really like it.

Geoffrey Teese RMC Wahs!!!

I had the Wizard (which I sold regretfully), still own the RMC3 and the Picture Wah. I had the George Dennis - I wasn't too satisfied with it - for me it is not a real wah-feeling!

I will agree that the GD wah pedals don't feel at all like a cry baby, or a Buddha for that matter. For me at least, that was one of the things I liked. It had a lot of travel, but with a limited range.

I'm definitely in the minority here, cuz I think my Crybaby Classic (which *IS* true bypas, btw) that I got for $60 used ROCKS!!!

I love my Crybaby Dimebag Darrell Crybaby from Hell and my Crybaby 95q.
