Thanks guy. I appreciate all the replies and advice. I will at least start utilizing my variac since our wall voltage seems to fluctuate on the high side. I've had it a long time but never used it. My father gave it to me years ago and it's sat in a closet.
That's a nice one, I am sure better quality than those cheap chinese ones.

My 90 year old dad who used to restore old vintage radios from the 30s and 40s and also WW2 military receivers gave it to me. Here is a radio he gave me that he restored.

My Dad RIP, did that too. I had so many old tubes back in the day. Back to tone/safety of the amps...I would doubt highly anyone could hear the bias shift of 5VDC. The amp wants stable voltage and current but no way will what was posted blow a fuse or have cause for concern like a spike/fault ect. If something goes like a grid resistor or tube it was going to anyway and should that happen hopefully the fuse will catch it and protect the amp.

Same here. My dad gave me literally a couple thousand tubes. Tubes he used to restore the vintage radios. Many , many I had no idea what they were. Weird metal tubes I knew I'd never need. I put aside and kept a lot of the ones I knew I could use in my amps and sold the rest. Wish I would have done more research though. I probably got rid of many valuable tubes.

I just feel like it depends on the amp. That’s all I was saying. I never much worried about voltage until living in a house built in the 40’s and spending 6k for an amp. Just protecting my investment. To each his own.

Fused vs magnetic breaker, I'm a fan of both and they both do their job if they are used proper, so I wouldn't worry about your investment my friend😎
