I have a buddy who has a amp for sale and someone wants to pay him with a walmart moneygram.

Safe way to get paid or should he run?

Thanks!!

I agree. There are safer ways to go about it, like a USPS money order, if your buddy refuses to use PayPal.

Passing money to people you know is fine, but I don't know anything about paying for a purchase. I don't think I would do anything like that.

Tell him to start a paypal account.

My buddy has PayPal, the dude who wants to buy his amp does not and want to pay via the money gram.

Yeah man, screw that. USPS, Paypal or cash. If the guy says no, better safe than sorry. IF he knows the guy real well, fine but outside of that, hell no

Thats kind of how I feel about it, just as easy for someone to go to the Post office for a USPS money order as it would be to go to Walmart.

Thanks guys

My cousin sold his dirt bike to a guy who gave him a money gram. It ended up being fake and the guy got away with a 3,000 dollar bike.

Yep, definitely stay away. It's not worth your bank account being hijacked. I know from personal experience.

My experience is that I went to Wallyworld, showed my ID and gave them the password that was setup and got cash but that was some time ago. It might be different now. I know the sender has to pay extra to send it too. I did not have to give them any bank account info at all.

Yeah. If I were buying something, no way. If I were selling something, I'm not sure what the down side is. You just to Walmart and pick up the cash, ship item. Done deal.

There is a 1 800 number on the money order and the number of the money order on the front all you have to do is call and they can give you all the info. I did it with no issues. Just cash it before you ship. No fees is always good too.

Eh, if he does it, I wouldn't ship anything until I took that down to Wal-Mart and had cash in hand. I can't really see that going badly as long as he can try to cash it before any real exchange is made. It's like any other money order, really.

Yup... Just had to show my ID, sign and got $1600 cash. No problems.
