Warrnen Demartini rig photos

Well mine is what I assume one of the earlier AOR Pro tubes because it has the push/pull boosts on the mid and bass. Not sure how "rare", they were easy to score. Problem with the amp is exactly what you mentioned.. muddy. Trick was however, when you use an attenuator and play it loud, the bass backs off and it actually is quite solid of an amp. I still have the circuit board and part of me somewhat regrets taking it all apart because i think now I could alter a few little things and make it very usable but it is about to be converted into a 2204/Jose type build so I look forward to that as well. One thing about the transformers in the Laney is that I found it gave the amp a very grainy scratchy sound. So without the bass pulled, I felt it was too thin, with the bass pulled, too muddy. Wide open, the amp was very usable and essentially a boosted JCM800 though the bias was set too low out of the factory on that amp and it still needed a bit of a push.
