I emailed them the day it was bumped and I have heard fuck nothing.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say they aren’t tooling up to do it like they insinuated.
Yeah, I didn't hear anything either. They're probably happy selling 300B tubes at astronomical prices to the audiophile crowd.

Never going to happen. Was just Western Electric BS-ing the industry for publicity. With the Chinese tubes and Russian tubes along with JJ tubes readily available no need for 150.00 12AX7, which would be most likely the asking price if not higher.

People forget Western Electric said back in 2010 they were going to make 12AX7's as well.

Yeah agreed. Just shit publicity for their 300b series catering to one small obscure HIFI audience. They can’t make the same margins in other tube models.

I'd agree. It's likely not worth it to them to invest the time and money for a smaller profit margin while other tube manufacturers are still operating. No one's going to buy their $100 12AX7 when you can get one somewhere else for $10-$20. The only way it would be worth it for them is if they had a monopoly on production.

$100 preamp tubes sound like a bargain around here. Take a look at Canada's largest music retailer. $100 Tung Sol and $140 Genalex ECC83 with tax.

Saved over $400 ordering 8 tubes from Banzai Music instead of The Tube Store. L+M would be even worse. I've avoided about 80% of customs, duties, tariffs, taxes, etc. with the strategy of small boxes, not purchasing within Canada and not purchasing from people who use English or French. It's pathetic but it saves a lot of money.

If they made super high quality 12AX7s, I can see people paying $100 for them. Hell, I'd pay that if they were really worth it.
If they sounded like the original RCA long blackplates and had reduced microphony, I would pay $100 per tube, no questions asked. We can all dream!

Sorry if this has been covered but: Does anyone know if it actually makes sense for them to do this? Is the demand big enough? Are the Russian, Chinese etc guys unable to keep up? Or is it a thing where they’d actually charge $100+ for 12ax7s and try to start a “high end” market type deal?

Seems to me that the smart thing for them to do would be power tubes. Like; better, more reliable ones. That seems to be what’s lacking these days. Shit, I’d pay more for better power tubes—if they sounded great and were super reliable.

And if not, I will buy them local and find a way to get them to y’all. Not in industrial quantities, but surely will find a way to help a brother out 🤘🏻😉
nice. thanks.

sounds like where you live would welcome a tube factory? Crystal Sky Brand - Premium Vacuum Tubes? Sounds good. Sounds good?

your assignment, should you choose to accept it... :D

Np, very easy to do, Russia is a neighbor and I do know some people in the business there, probably even have some mutual friends with Myasnikov to name someone you guys heard about.

Gladly will do if someone invest millions in equipment and qualified workforce. I would actually love to do any kind of production business tied to guitars and amps, but with my OCD it will require a SHITLOAD of investments until we get it all 100% perfect so I can sleep calmly 😂

Mind that there are probably less than 100 tube guitar amps in the whole country, and I sound very generous to myself with that number 😂

I'm still being optimistic that WE makes a 12AX7 and other tubes but if not there's other players entering the market. Anyone here check out Straditube yet?

Newer company out of South Korea making some replicas and innovations on classic tubes as well as entirely new designs. Mostly for the hifi guys. Heard a few great things but not much information out yet. I have a feeling in a few years we're going to see some really great things come out of smaller companies like this.
