WITHOUT breaking the bank?

Looking at an old G major 2 or G Force, but what else is worth a gander? I wonder if I’m better of just gettting a VP4 or FM3. It’s just to run in the amp switcher for some basic effects.

G-Major, probably, for a single space. Best single space combination of sound quality, value, etc.

Depends what sounds you want though. The alesis midiverb series is super cheap and I think has some rad 80's and 90s style time based fx, if it's just time based stuff you're after. There are a million great (digitech, rocktron, etc) time based multi fx rack units that punch way above their pricepoint IMO, if you actually know how to dial it in.

That's just for single space though. If you're looking for a "do it all" box, and want the extra functionality, Axe FX or Kemper Rack kill - plus it's basically a backup amp for a couple hundred extra bucks.

If you're looking for super amazing sound quality, you've given up on single space, and you don't need all the multi effects, say "fuck it" and get a 2290 because that's going to be the time based unit to end all others.

Yeah I just want some delay, chorus and reverb.

I DO want a proper 2290 for sure though…

Best versatility for a single space is gonna be a g-major then i'd say

Although you can obviously do all that and more with a POD Pro x, axe or kemper rack, it's gonna cost you more rack space.

Lexicon MPX G2 or MPX-1. The MPX-1 can’t do pitch and delay at the same time, but can do chorus and delay. G2 has more power and can do pitch and delay at the same time. Both have dedicated reverb chips and have better sounding effects then g-major but not as friending to use, also have drop outs changing patches.

I never really ventured much outside the Alesis Quadraverb, Rocktron Intellifex, and TC Electronics G Major. As others said, any of those should be decent enough.

There's also the Alesis Midiverb and a few others that I can't think of that may be even less expensive.

Probably G Major 2, MPX-1, or Intellifex. I have all of these, and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. I wish companies were still making 1U effects units.

You could also grab an Axe-Fx II for 2 spaces. I use one of these also for effects for my tube amps.

Nice thing about the intellifex xpression replifex is dry signal stays analog

Yes, I have my G Major 2, MPX-1, and Axe-Fx II going through a Parallel mixer. The Intellifex and Replifex can be ran direct since they have built in analog mixers. That is one of the best features of the Rocktron units. I wish more of these units had Analog Dry Through, because a mixer adds a lot of extra complexity.

I have also considered a Fractal VP4 and RJM Micro Line Mixer. Would be smaller, but not as nicely organized as a rack.

G System.
1U and an awesome foot controller.

Still use my red limited.

Effects are great.

Recently broke out my Alesis Midiverb 3.
They can be had cheap, and are good for a few sounds. Def has a 90s vibe to the sounds. Probably wouldn't recommend, unless you were going for that sound.

It'll do in a pinch if you just want a decent reverb, delay or chorus.

+1 again

although they are still expensive now
Yeah seeing a few around $1200 with “make an offer”

Only 2 effects at a time? Is that right? Do I couldn’t do chorus, delay and reverb all at the same time?

Or detune and also delay? I thought I saw detune required both blocks?

2 'algorithms' at a time.

An algorithm may have 2 effects within it, like chorus and delay together for example.

I find combining it with a few pedals up front and there's an insane amount of sounds.
I haven't even tried all the algorithms yet
