Into Ratt out of the cellar territory
I'd try an EQ, Furman PQ3. I have recently discovered the true power of EQ's lol, the new Tech 21 Eq pedal is kind of similar, way cheaper and badassInto Ratt out of the cellar territory
The real deal!I have an 80s sd1 might work
I have some eqs to try !I'd try an EQ, Furman PQ3. I have recently discovered the true power of EQ's lol, the new Tech 21 Eq pedal is kind of similar, way cheaper and badass
I’ll try this . I’ve not used the emotes much. Does anyone know how to set the emotess to sound close to the Apex eq uses on justice for all ?i had the empress. used it completely to take out the hum from my pickup only. first pedal in the line. subtractive eq at the highest noise point. then put gain all the way down. So say you are on high gain, raise gain (bottom knob to full level) then sweep through range of highs, when you hear it get to that highest point, make sure the shape arch is in right place, then completely turn down gain (bottom knob) at that spot. Noise gone. Then when i would boost after it with a ts, i would turn off zuul in loop and get my 6k slider on my graphic eq down a bit to take away the shhhhhhhhhh. and then turn on the zuul. Takes a ton of noise out of the setup.
Now dial them all in to sound the same and
I always found the Koko to add thickness which worked with some amps but not othersI like the Suhr Koko for my 77 2203. Clean and mid boost in one pedal. Keeps the sound of the 2203 but drives the preamp harder.

I did record them all setup as boosts. I almost posted it a few times. They do literally sound the same in front of a cranked 1959. The 2 MXR’s show a slight difference to the others. Now dial them all in to sound the same and
make a YT shootout video.
Well, if the operator is dialing them in like that,
-shouldn’t they apply that to just ONE pedal,
set & forget and be done?
No they need to find the problem.
I’ve got the koko reloaded with the 3 way toggle. There’s a lead setting which is a bit thinner to cut, and a rhythm setting which does have that thickness that I love. I don’t use the mid boost side much just the clean boost.I always found the Koko to add thickness which worked with some amps but not others
od1x sounds like the way. does it have the assymetrical clipping like the Sd-1?I like the Boss OD1X; it seems to add a 'grind' in the upper mids/highs that I like. Someone said it was like a Cameron in that regard; maybe that's why I like it so much.
For EQ pedals, it's hard to beat the vintage GE 10. When I had one though, how I liked it best was basically the same tone as the OD1X. I also have a 1986 SD1, and for lower priced clones some Joyo pedals....the Uzi(BE OD clone with differences), Ultimate Drive(OCD), and Tauren(Klon).
I believe so…it’s patterned after the original OD1 which then morphed into the SD1.od1x sounds like the way. does it have the assymetrical clipping like the Sd-1?
Wow, surprised by this . Didn't think there would be a noticeable difference .The Waza craft models get rave reviews .80’s SD-1 is what everyone else used at the time, so that’s the sound. Definitely spend the time to get an 80’s Japan version. I have one and a new Waza SD-1w and it’s no contest. The original just adds this extra mid-push/smear that gets you the exact period-correct sound the modern one won’t give you.
