What’s wrong with my new delay pedal?

So I just bought a brand new in box TC Electronic Flashback Mini delay pedal. Brought it home, hooked it up, and when I strum, it’s out of sync. There is a second of hesitation before any sound. I thought maybe it was in some weird reverse echo mode from the factory so I tried beaming a new toneprint into it with my phone. That didn’t work. I also tried setting it with the tap feature, but nothing is working. There’s still that lag. Did I just get a faulty pedal, or can this be sorted out?

I don't like TCE stuff. The tone print has been shit to me. Especially on my wiretap which would be an amazing tool if the software wasn't shit. IMO, IME, YMMV, etc.

Not sure if this will help, but have you checked the kill dry setting? If kill dry is on, you'll only hear the effected signal, not your original.

I think you’re right about the issue, however that manual is the wrong product. I’ve got the flashback mini. But now that I know about kill dry setting, I can probably figure out how to set it. Thanks for the help!

Dang, I missed that you had the mini, apologies. I think the only difference is that kill dry is changed through the Tone Print Editor and not internal dip switches. Here's what I found in their documentation...

True to Tone
You love tone and so do we, and our design philosophy testifies to that. So whatever route you wanna
go, we’ve got your back. With its optimized headroom, True Bypass and even Kill-Dry on/off via our
TonePrint Editor
, FLASHBACK MINI DELAY guarantees optimal tonal integrity and zero loss of tone. And
whether the pedal is on or off, your precious dry sound is always passes through the pedal in all it’s
pure analog glory thanks to its Analog-Dry-Through design.

I can’t find it in the toneprint app how to turn off kill dry

How are you powering up the pedal? Digital Pedals require more power than Analog.

It's been a while since I messed with mine. Are the Tone Print App and Tone Print Editor two different things? I think the app lets you beam a tone print to your pedal and the editor lets you create your own tone prints (and change other settings like kill dry).

I don’t see any other apps for this besides the one. TC’s website is wholly unhelpful, and I’m not going to mess around with their concoluted customer support method on their site. Why can’t they just make something simple that works? Why does everything have to have “smart”, digital technology, and use apps and other BS? I see no evidence that all of this hyper technology has made our lives the slightest bit easier or better. If anything it has ruined and handicapped us and made life more of a pain in the ass.

Me neither. I bought a flashback, and it made a loud "POP" in the foot switch when I used it in the loop of a Friedman. Returned it, got a DD3, problem solved.

I do like the Spark Booster though.

I would go xotic over the spark any day. Fuck TCE. Fuck tone print,it just complicates things unnecessarily. Sell it and get a nova delay and be happy.

I’ve got a pedaltrain metro16 board. Can you guys recommend good mini pedals. Need chorus, boost, eq, phase, and wah. No large pedals. Only mini

Pardon my french, but this kind of shit pisses me off. You sit there and pay $100 fucking dollars for something. It comes out of the box stuck in this weird mode that makes it unusable. You can’t find the info on how to get it working correctly. They couldn’t even put the full instructions in the fucking box with this $100 piece of shit, and the faggot ass company makes it a pain in the ass to get ahold of them. I’ll never take my business to TC again.

Look into malekko for chorus, phaser, xotic ep booster for a small boost, and for wah I like the fulltone Clyde and the Friedman No more tears wah.

All of this I predicted two years ago in a blog. Lol. They will stop supporting the software once they no longer make money off of it selling new. From the beginning it was doomed to be fucked tbh.

Every time I click on the link they provide for the toneprint editor, or for technical support for the toneprint editor, I get taken to this defunct page on their website.

They’ve got my money, and I’ve got a $100 paper weight they couldn’t even be bothered to provide the complete fucking instructions with. What a POS company!

Exactly. Shit product and company. I predicted this right when it came out.

That's the Flashback Mini download page. The last two items are downloads for Mac and Windows Tone Print Editors. I just successfully downloaded both (click the down arrow at the far-right).

Sucks that you're having these issues...these things can be beyond frustrating. I hope the link above works for you.

Edit: I used Google Chrome browser, not sure if that matters, but if you're using a different one, maybe that'll help.
