What are some cool stores/bands to check out in Boston?

Going there for business next month, already saw 311 is playing nearby so that's a lock.

Just looking to go to some rad stores and maybe see some locals that are cool.
 
Matts Music and Music Emporium have the best stuff. For shows there are a ton of cool venues small to huge, just do a search on ticketmaster for Boston area, lots of cool spots in New Hampshire as well. There are a ton of GC's here as well but I would search the inventory to see if there is anything that grabs you. A bit farther out but Mark's Guitar Loft has some cool shit too!
