Except a significant portion of them are all the same guy...that site completely lacks any integrity.

I don't understand what you're saying? Can you explain what you mean? Jim Shine, Kevin Loiacono - these guys have tons of old prepro parts and have made an obsessive hobby of identifying real/fake.

It actually looks fake to me. Can somebody show me another pre-pro neck without a skunk stripe? It's not a 100% foolproof indictment since there were oddballs that left the factory, but I've never seen one that I recall.

It's a Boogie Bodies neck and there were certainly some of those that had no skunk stripe. It's certainly possible that the logo was added later and that kind of makes sense if you read the guy's story in the ad. Who knows though... Still looks pretty cool to me...

Jim Shine alone is a human archive to all things Charvel. And a lot of those guys have been obsessive about researching those old guitars. I can understand if one isn't a fan of Tracy, but there's a lot of guys on that site who really know their shit.

Yea...I like it as well. that thing REALLY looks like it wants to played, and hard...
Now to the legitamcay of it all... see link here; http://www.guitarsandeffects.com/2012a1 ... ynecharvel

No skunk, but a different head stock. Also, read the note in the write up about WC not installing all six screws on the trem. May or may not be a sure-fire calling card. Someone with more knowledge will have to chime in I suppose. The guitar on the CList add has all six screws.

Yeah, there are a few knowledgeable dudes there and you named two of them. The bigger issue is all of the aliases used to promote, agree with, attack, etc. I haven't been active there for about 5 years now, but some of the names that come to mind are inblues22, spaceycat, san dimas, Paul C...there were about a dozen or more.

You Steve, of all people, are certainly aware of the trolling that the forum owner used to do (and has tried again recently) to Chuck.
When you take part in that forum, you are unwittingly supporting the underhanded and divisive tactics continually used by it's owner. He used to personally call me to find out what was going on at Chuck's forum, what the post counts were, how many members he had, etc. He has an unhealthy sense of competition that drove a wedge into what used to be a somewhat tight-knit community. Jr high type hi-jinks.

Most people are clueless to all of this so they ignorantly think all is cool there. I have trouble believing you fall into that category...I think you're fully aware of the numerous past indiscretions.

Look me up over there...I was one of the first and most active members until I figured it all out. At that point, I felt I was complicit in a big lie if I didn't bail.

For the record, the owner is seemingly a nice guy for the most part and he's always treated me well...I've even been to his house on several occasions and played much of his collection. If I wasn't in the loop as to how he has treated anybody who he feels is a threat to his little cyber-kingdom, I'd probably still be active there.

I'd be curious to know if the scale was standard explorer or strat length (24.75 or 25.5)?
I guarantee that is 25.5"

Steve

And, just like that, this goofy looking thing has become interesting.

Thanks Steve.

I am honestly unaware of the stuff you are talking about. I was only on the periphery over at Charvel Central (a place I really miss) and JCF posting and reading relatively infrequently. While I had a sense of the disagreements you speak of, I really didn't know the extent of it it, or have forgotten over the years.

I joined usacharvels years ago and was immediately banned for not posting. I hadn't been there for years, but I got interested in possibly acquiring some original Charvels or parts and so I re-joined under a different name. I've been fascinated by the posts by Jim and Kevin and I've actually worked a few deals with Kevin so I can build some mutts from original parts. I have seen some inklings of behavior that has disturbed me, but it seems worth it to hear from guys like Jim and Kevin. I had no idea about the aliases, etc. and I've not gone through any deep history - just seen a few weird discussions...

I'm gonna look into this a bit more...

Steve

I've been a member there and here for years. Don't post much but love to jump on the forums and check things out. Just got banned from usacharvel for not posting. Sucks I had a post count of around 800. I'm not a huge collector but I got a few cool charvels and gmw's. This was valuable sight for information. Boo-hoo for me...
