Hello!

What FX thingies do you people use with your rig?

Until recently I basically went:
guitar -> wah -> herbert -> g-major in parallel or serial loop (depending how waxy my ears are) -> cab
I was then happy after the Diezel purchase that I had a good sounding rig with nice sounds. (still want a new cab though ;) ) Then a few months ago I got a Zvex fuzz probe for added filth that goes before my wah. I've since discovered the world of exciting analog stomp boxes!!!

I never really liked the compressor/chorus/flange of the G-major that much and so have always used it almost exclusively for reverb and delay (hence why I'm happy to put it in my parallel loop), but went with digital FX as it saves a lot of tap-dancing for regular patch changes and all neatly went in my old rack rig setup I had for years.

Anyway, back to my point.... there's a whole world of pedalboards out there I know not much about. There's clean boosters, things like the Z-vex Super Hard On (that I heard Mesa Triaxis' didn't like much, so never had any desire to try one with my old rig), pedal compressors (those analogman ones look nice), and various tubescreamery things, and obviously nice analog phasers/flangers/fuzzes/uni-vibes/analog delays/etc. and things like the EH memory man and Dr. Scientist Sunny Day Delay, which do delay things that I can't do with the digital delay of the G-major. I had (naively?) thought that boost type pedals were only for people who's amps didn't have enough gain. Now I know that they sound different so that's not quite true.

So basically what do you guys and gals have on your pedalboard? What do you use them for? When? What sounds nice? Which channels of you diezel do you use them with, when? What phlangers and fazers do you put in the loop or before the amp input? What kinda style do you use that sound for (jazz/death metal/radioheady stuff/classic rock - to give me a better idea of the tone you're trying to get)?

Basically, what's on your pedalboard, why, and how?

I've just ordered a nice Dr. Scientist Cosmichorus so I can put it in my Herbert switchable loop, or after the wah (depending where it sounds best) for splendid analog jangly swirl. The g-major just doesn't seem to do that vintagy analog sound, or else I'm crap at programming it and would be better of with a small box with knobs on! Most of the time I'll still probably use the Diezel dry, or just with digital reverb and delay, but I'm quite happy to click an extra pedal or 2 for a few patch changes with exciting effects now and then!

Sorry for the long question, but playing Ch.2 minus mode for hours with and without my fuzz made me go all vintage stomp box-y! Hang on, where's my acid and flares gone...

As little as possable ....

mainly PRS hollowbody1 > shure wireless system > g-system > einstein combo

the g-system is connected in front and in the loop.

the 4 channel switching relays in the g-system control my modded einstein mode/channel switching perfectly

I'm a lucky owner of a Diezel Einstein 50 head.

In front:
guitar --» Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde (for compressor and/or overdrive) --» input

In the serial loop:
Visual Sound Visual Volume (+ Boss TU-2 in the pedal's dedicated tuner out)

In the parallel loop:

TC Electronic G-Sharp processor (I keep the loop's knob at around 3 so I don't mess too much with the amp's tone)

And that's it!
