  • Vintage Pointy (Explorer, Traditional V)

  • Modern Pointy (RRV, KK, Warrior, Warlock, Kelly, etc...)

  • Traditional Superstrat (Charvel, Jackson, EVH, HH Strat, etc...)

I never use the clean channel on a guitar amp. If I want a clean tone, I'd play an acoustic guitar. Please note that I don't own an acoustic guitar.

So even tho the task requires that I pick a guitar to "round out my tonal paintbrush", I would have to note that I don't use a paintbrush. I'm the troglidyte on this forum that paints on the walls of his cave using his bare hands, but is fortunate enough to have acquired some decent tools that alow my massive force and obvious animal magnetism to shine through. I refuse to water down the "art brute" nature of my work by owning a tool I find inferior to my task at hand.

That being said, I've wanted a Malcolm Young model forever as it fits my need for a basic guitar that can take a beating. But I would just butcher it with an emg and a Floyd...because I'm a cave man.
Fuck Yes

I like to paint using my ass cheeks.

Acoustic is next on the list. The one I have the neck went funky. Still good for slide.

Never owned a Telecaster. Played them many times. Rarely play a Stratocaster. But thinking about building a Warmoth. Using the EMG DG20 I have in it.

I don't really look for guitars. If I play one I like I buy it. I don't like most of them.

Personally, I'm doing buying guitars. I'm actually giving away a few of mine. I'm too busy to play, I've got pretty much everything I ever wanted, and the guitars I have left have tripled in value over the years...or more. At some point you have to say "Jim, you have 27 guitars, over half of them vintage pieces. WTF do you think you need?" I realize I've been doing this for 54 years now, and I've still got the 68 LPC I bought as a junior in high school. Although the 59 Jr (bought from a good friends widow in 2008) is a stellar guitar. Make nice to my wife and maybe she'll make a deal with you after I kick the bucket. She's pretty savvy on guitar values, so don't think you can snow her.

You should give a tele a long term test drive. I find that living with one for a while is a much different thing than picking one up at a store
