a ton of great information sorry for the thread resurrection....
i use an HX stomp and looks like i'll be headed over to OH :P

I know this is an old thread, but I never jived with anything ownhammer. The new cabs on the helix are very good and I stick with those over ir's now.

Same here. The last update really changed their cab modeling/dynamic IR's. They are as good as anything out there now. I don't even use my two notes stuff any more.

Well, I ended up buying a few Celestion and OH pack, and my favorite was the basic Heavy Hitters pack, LOL. I like the Mode Four cab with the V30's and the Mesa cab with the V30's.

They have like a thousand different takes on the Mesa cab, but the basic Heavy Hitters one is my favorite. There is one that is REALLY dark and horrible-sounding. I think it's claled V70 something. Is that the cab that so revered from the 2000's? Yikes.

I also really like the Celestion closed back 4x12 GB IRs.

Love the York Audio irs. I haven't tried the OH but have bought a couple different packs from York. My fav for metal is the M20 pack.

For the heavy stuff I'm really liking the OwnHammer Low Tuned essentials but all the other recent essentials have been great tbh

I usually like your mix of mics from the OH stuff, but I'm also (most of a time) a simple SM57 guy.

Single 57 IRs can very often do the trick! I usually use blends of 57s and 121s or 421s and they just add another layer of thickness to an already good sound, but the source (57) lays a very good foundation!

I like the Ownhammer Diezel Cab G12K100 + V30 with Jon's Mic Setup with the mid push ( JS-M+).
Sounds amazing!

I’d scoop up York Audio’s DV77 cab pack! That’s my go-to for modern (well, last 20 years) metal tones.

I far prefer York over any other IR company, simply for the fact you get considerably less IR’s in the packs than the fucking 800 that come in an OH pack and 85% of them just sound like someone moving a mic in a fishbowl. I think some of these guys just point and shoot before they listen where York checks the sound before shooting anything.

I’ve got 45,000 fucking IR’s on my computer I could entirely wipe out and just keep the 4-5 York packs and never miss the other IR’s.

Bogren IRs are my favorites- A friend of mine tried them on his helix and it was a massive change for him

I can't say it much better than that !
