Does anyone know the size/thread for the screws that hold in speakers?
Man... Tonight, a simple speaker-swapping procedure turned into a ridiculous project.
Tried to install an Eminence Governer into my Bogner Shiva Ported 112 cab. First of all, the screw holes did not line up properly. (I'm guessing it's the speaker, because both a Celestion and Scumback fit perfectly...)
Second, once I got the speaker in place (using too much force), the recessed back panel doesn't fit in the cab anymore due to a 1x1x25" reinforcement bar running horizontally across the center of the back panel. It's hitting the magnet. (The eminence must be 1/4" deeper than the Celestion/scumback).
Even worse, now when I backed the screws out, two of them have stripped threads.
I'm really hoping that the metal inserts in the cab itself are not stripped too, cuz that would be a nightmare to replace, due to the Bogner's construction. It would involve removing glue, taking the cab apart, trashing the grillcloth, etc, etc. I tried a non-stripped screw in a questionable insert, and it's not *super* smooth, but it works so far... fingers crossed.
Here's what the back panel looks like:
And here is how it fits into the cab, and how I'll have to route the reinforcement bar to accomodate the deeper Emi speaker. (these are cross section drawings
