What is your #1 axe, and why?

McCarty 594 Goldtop. Has everything going for it: pickups, weight, comfort/playability, well built, and doesn’t look half bad either.

This shouldn't be my go to guitar because I have others that are nicer, newer, etc but just has become MY "Frankenstein". It is a 2013 Classic but came with a Standard plate and has Motor City 2nd Degree Blackbelts. I've got a Tonenerd Whiskey on the way soon and that will go in this sucker. This is the guitar I can change, upgrade, badh up, etc and no big deal, lol.

Even though this is a recent pickup, it’s taken the top spot for me. A 2014 Washburn N4. The fit and finish are exceptional. The previous owner swapped the Bill Lawrence USA with a Bill & Becky Wilde so that was a plus. I installed a D-Tuna and it’s the smoothest functioning I have ever used on this. It’s the first guitar I grab for and I have already written our next single with it and we’ll be in studio with it this week.

As the days go up in a flash,
-my #1’s change with the flavor of the
vibes of the times.

This guitar was stolen for 5 years,
-I got her back.
I was MADE to love her.

The Strat was a 90’s
American Standard HSS and I installed
a John Mayer aged neck.
It was stolen.

I got the bitch back.
When I got her ass home,
I switched & routed her out to an HSS
& installed Tone Specific 57’s,
RS pots & caps, Callaham bridge & wiggle stick,
& had the guitar Plek’ed cuz..
I can’t quit you baby!!!!

This one butter’s the potatoes..,
-the gravy without the train..

It's the only one I ever had custom built, and was exactly what I wanted. There are other guitars I end up playing more for certain situations, occasionally for years at a time, but if I had to choose #1 this would be it.

My 2016 PRS Custom 24 Fatback Wood Library. It plays better than any other guitar I’ve ever held, and it’s loaded with \m/ pickups and sounds just glorious in each position. Super versatile! It’s my favorite axe not just to play, but sonically as well.
