MW triple rectifier through the old 2000 rectifier straight/slant cab with the k/v X-pattern.
The old basket-stamped mesa v30 mixes so well with the 8ohm k100.

I have the same exact setup in my recto cab except mines a slant. It kicks you in the balls hard. A shame Celestion stopped making them. They are underrated IMO.

Tough one especially if you've owned almost 1 of everything at one time or another.
I would've said something mesa but, haven't played the vii yet so probably my 20th ann.bogner xtc thru a German made diezel front loaded 4x12.
Always getting tone compliments from others, no matter if it's doing country twang or metal shred.

The cab is easy, it would be the 212/115 I built. It has 2- 12" Weber Grey Wolfs and 1- 15" Weber Alnico Blue Dog. Lots of sweet midrange bite and prominent; but not overpowering, low end.

Amp is a bit harder. Tied for favorite are Headfirst Alta, Ground Zero Hellion, and MonoMyth Skeleton Key. If I was forced to choose only one I think I would quit playing all together.

Took the easy way out on the amps, I see

I was wondering how far we would get before someone picked more than one amp when the title clearly says only one please. Sometimes that’s the whole point of the challenge…just picking one.

I’d pick my ‘69 Super Lead clone thru my ‘78 1960A Blackback cab.

Vox Pathfiner 15r. Oh wait, you said tube. Never mind.

I had no idea the k100 is out. I just looked and you are indeed correct. I bet Avatar still has both 8 and 16ohms for awhile. They always bought Celestions by the pallets.

My 72 Marshall Super Lead that has ED specs and an RT mod that covers alot of ground.

The Hermanson 5 gain stage Marshall’s are just the top dog atm I’d say
I haven't heard or played a 5 stage Hermannson in real life yet - but I would really like to for technical reasons.

In any case, until 1995 I had the scream sound in my Dino amps with 5 stages and from 1996 I reduced it to 4 stages after I discovered that I could generate just as much gain with 4 stages as with 5 stages, but with better dynamics and more detail resolution of complicated chords.

Well I get my PMM on August and your amp will probably take the top dog . Iv heard so much good about your tones . I can’t wait fr . What you described is fr what I want

Looks like Mesa Boogie is the most popular in this thread.

Had some really killer amps over the years, just one, the VH4, still does it for me,
into an old Marshall 412 with vented 75's
