WHAT!? Okay, I'm now interested in Solar

I haven't touched an Ibanez with a long stick in ages, but what's wrong with them nowadays? I thought they were still solid.

I'm being hyperbolic, Ibanez just doesn't make guitars with specs im into

I hate dimarzios, I hated the edge tremolos, I hate wizard necks (all variations)

Just a perfect storm of stuff I don't like - give me a Rocket Roll V, 80s iceman, or a Destroyer anyday though

The Prestige/J-Custom stuff is still top notch, but you’ll be paying for it.

They’ve chosen to cater to the intermediate crowd with their Premium and Iron Label lines, even when they have a guitar with great specs the guitars still feel like shit. The fret ends are some of the worst I’ve felt for guitars in that price point, 90’s MIM Fenders were better than that and at this point, blow them out of the water.

The fit/finish is just…..bleh. I played 3 awesome Premiums the first year they were out, but months later they all just started feeling like shit. When they released the Universe models I was hopefully, but after playing a bunch I’ll never both picking up a Premium again. No point, just continuous let downs.

I've heard they had really bad QC issues with covid, as lots of brands did

But unless they reissue destroyers or do an ice-stroyer paul gilbert sig or hardtail xiphos or something, there's just a million brands with better specced and better looking super strats

It’s just the Premium line in general, they’re not any better today than they were during covid or even before covid. I don’t know how the fuck they can make a guitar feel like plastic by painting it, but they pulled that off well.

I took a chance a few weeks ago.
I went as cheap as I could with options I liked and what was in stock.
It sure didn’t come set up. But after a few hours it actually turned into a nice playing guitar. Can’t complain too much for $800
Neck feels like an esp shape.
bridge pickup sounds like a underwound custom custom. Wish it was a little hotter but it works. This one has one fret that was spot leveled but never crowned.
My biggest complaint? The f*cking volume pot. You can’t get to the damn thing.
You have to put your palm between the bar and the fine tuners to roll it back. Stupid just stupid.
