What rare/obscure amps have you owned?

What happened, did he stop building or something?
This was 2019 and I have no idea what the issue was as James gave no explanation as to the delay. I ordered, paid in full, and was quoted 12 weeks and when week 20 came and went and there was no indication the build even began, I was done. I know builds can take longer than quoted but it seemed there just wasn't any progress. James was very good about refunding me in full in a timely manner. I did continue communication with him over the years following and he has helped me out in the past fixing a blown screen resistor on a Bodyhammer I wound up with at one point. I never held any ill feelings and James seems like a good guy, my guess is he had some life issues which happens to all of us.

I had a Titan about 15 years ago. Yea, that's right. LOL

I have rarely seen anyone online at all who has owned or currently owns either the 25w or 55w version of my main amp: Rivera Clubster Royale Recording. Absolute monster of an amp, with all of the built in features you could ask for. I love the damn thing.

I bought a green uberschall this year that is face meltingly good. There’s low triple digit quantity so I’m not sure it’s rare but damn it’s great.

Unsure how obscure it’s but the most obscure amp I own is a Budda SD45. Most people went for the SD30, which I also had and stupidly sold for some reason. The 45 is a fantastic amp but super loud!

Thanks, I was just curious since he stopped posting here around 2020 and he hasn’t updated his website in a while. I always have had good dealings with him too.

Bogner Ecstasy prototype built on a Fender Princeton chassis with 2 6v6's - was a killer head but looked like a rats nest inside.
Hey, I also owned this amp. It has EL34s when I had it though. I sold it to Fatbagg and then he scammed a bunch of people, so who knows where it ended up.

This comment is pretty much joking, compared to the awesome amps on this thread...but I have one of these.

Yup, A Peavey Wiggy. I saw it up for trade on Craig's List. The guy was looking for a shredder guitar, and I had some Godin shredder that I never liked, so I did the trade.

Got it home, plugged it in, sounded terrible. Went right into my storage and it's been there ever since. All I use it for is to add comments to threads about weird amps. It's real good for that. My tech tells me he can change the tone stacks to make it sound better, but I've got amps that actually sound good so it's still in storage.

Well, no one said rare/obscure had to sound good.

hmm, I like cars, I like amps, kind of want? lol. It works as a decoration even if it sounds like :poop:

I was always intriguied by the look of them, so I had to grab it. And it only cost me a guitar I didn't like.

One of these days I'll take it out to a gig and use it with my Fractal and blow people's minds.

I had a Metaltronix M 1000 that I picked up for $400 back in 2007 or 8.
I wished I had kept it.

I remember those well..
I wish I still had them but 1 literally caught fire and the other one dumped a tranny and I never fixed it. I traded it for some stuff I thought I needed at the time. They were paint peelers for sure. The attenuation in the amp worked but was hard on output sections.
But they were very in your face and pissed off sounding.
The cabs that went with them were bombproof and sounded great. Probably built as good or better than anything made today.

Not the rarest amps on the Earth but I think I am the only one who had them in my country. Naylor is still here 😉

Masotti Monster...this is rare amp worlwide I think. If Soldano X99 and Masotti X100m have a baby...
And Masotti X3M + Slave 100 is quite rare too. 3channel - 9 tube preamp (each channel has separate path and tubes). Slave 100W is EL34 mono and most brutal poweramp I have heard.
That’s a sweeet Naylor 😍
