I have a favorite band of the month and usually try to cover a song I like from botm’s album. This month I like Telenova. I’ve been just playing bass to their latest album. What song(s) are you learning right now and is it for a specific technique or pleasure?

Not metal enough for me. :m17::uzi:

So I'm learning solo guitar versions of Chet Atkins' "Hark the Herald Angels sing" and "It came upon a midnight clear" for the end of year concert at my church. Rock on! ;-) :p

Been writing a lot of funk riffs and working on my 3 finger and slap techniques. Not trying to get back into a band or even write/record songs. I picked up the Spector about 6 weeks ago for the first time in about a year and fell in love all over again. Had a slight moment of panic yesterday though. I kept getting this cutting out, weird phase issue. I changed cables, but I suspected something else since all my cables are Mogami. I thought maybe one of the Winged Cs in the SVT gave up the ghost. Turns out the 9v battery in the NS4 needed replacing.

@VonBonfire I thought of you watching this. Curious if you agreed on his take of Jimi's blues progression in Red House

(I had no idea anyone was underwhelmed by Hendrix -- clickbait title for me haha)

Had the same deal recently and actually it was the cable. But that's because I'm using cheap livewires. But at least guitar center will replace them no questions asked.

The progression chord changes-wise is just straight I-IV-V blues. It's a great, top notch blues solo, the end. Not many guys play blues at that level. Well, pretty much no guys. It's one man's masterful blues fingerprint so of course it's highly unique and personal, To think he's playing like that at 25 years old. MAD DUES PAYING. I don't need man bun boy's clickbait title or commentary to get that. Dude needs to worry about his hair, not that solo.

I like your take. Bunboi gonna clickbait, but got me thinking anyways.

That happened on my Godin Multiac a few days ago except it sounded distorted. For a little bit I thought I'd blown something on my acoustic amp. Yes it was just the piezo battery.

Bunboi.....

He analyzes it pretty well but I could do without his poetic smoke blowing hype job. It makes me uncomfortable.

I was working on this song all week. I played it last night "twice" in the beginning and at the end of my 3 hour set at the Winery. Came out great and people slow danced to it both times.

A lot of classic xmas songs can easily be metal with a bit of distortion. Carol of the Bells is surprisingly VERY metal

I feel like a lot of “impressive” slap isn’t the “hit the string with your thumb” and that’s it. It’s learning and utilizing in good timing all the hidden ghost notes. All that crazy percussion makes it that more impressive. I’ve been trying to get used to that mindset, it’s so difficult.

That was an interesting video. I always liked SRV because of BB King

That's cool. I have a gig in St. Louis next week that I need a bass player for. Downbeat is 7 pm, see you there

I been working on originals and Samba Pa Ti the way Santana does it for some side fun.
Wait what???

People dancing is probably the greatest compliment a musician can get (unless you’re doing screamo and beyond, then it’s a black eye or someone breaking a bone). Nice!

thanks

I had people dancing a lot last night. It was one of those nights everything just lined up for the solo guy :)
Owners noticed and I got $186 in my tip bucket in addition to pay.

Yeah - I was just being funny but I am having to learn the songs I said - non-metal versions though.
