What speakercabinett do you reccomend for the Herbert?

would be my thought too, as i think the V30s break up earlier. :)

I am a huge fan of the Diezel Front Loaded 4x12 with V30's and a VH4.....as long as you are playing with a second cab. The FL projects so much better than a rear load. All my opinion of course....and the audience - including the mosh pit :rawk: . The mids are very articulate and playing Drop A, Drop B, Drop C tunings, your lows won't get lost or flubby. However, I play with the VH4 and an Ubershall, both always on anf the Uber through an Uber cab. The really growling lows I get out of the Bogner as I play Ch2 on it with the mids all the way down with a little treble and presence. Its just a mix that works for me. For the Herbert, I don't know, but can't imagine it being that much different.

This week, I will get my 78 Marshall JMP Super Bass and my 83 JCM 800. All may change then............

Ok, thanks for the answers

@steve_k: I will not buy a second cab, I will replace ist. First of all I dont have the money and secondly I dont want to carry two 4x12er cabs to small bar gigs ;)
Also remember, that you have a vh-4, which has more treble and mids than my herbert, but the bogner with your settings might go in this direction.

So it seems to be the right choice of taking V30's or mixing 2 V30s with 2 G12K100's. It will definatly be a frontloaded one - no question ^^

What do you guys think of mixing them? Also ok for small areas?

Could work out real well, although I know that Peter S. doesn't like that...purist...pfft... :D

You could always put a second cable in a 4x12 without connecting it to th amp and effectifely you's have a 2x12...in case a 4x12 is too "big" sounding for a small venue.

Scott, that's very interesting, but I didn't quite get it? Can you elaborate please, where to put the second cable and what it does?

Yeah, please explain more detailled ^^
Sounds interesting.
What are the varities to connect the speakers? And what does make sense?
I am a noob at this...

I have a frontloaded with both speakers in there and I love it. Very rich and full sounding with lots of attack and very tight. G12K100 alone are a bit to neutral for my taste and V30 to mid heavy. But both compliment each other very well.

What Scott meant was switching the cab to stereo and use only one side (2x12") of the cab. Since the Diezel cabs don't have a switch you just have to insert a jack into the second input of the cab. That will switch it to stereo operating mode.

Which speakers are connected when you use the stereo mode?

And another question: You also have a VH-4 (which is very mid-heavy). Any experience of this combo with herbert?

You can decide, either left or right side. I have my speakers aligned per side to be able to user either V30 or G12K100.

I have heard the G12K100 only once at Musikmesse with the Herbert and I don't really remember how that sounded.

Right, thanks Tobi. :)

I played a rl G12K cab in Dillingen and A/B'ed it with a fl V30 cab, and to me the rl didn't do the trick with the Herbert, but I'm sure a few people will wholeheartedly disagree. To me the RL cab sounded too muddy - I used the same EQ on the Herbert with both cabs, and tried some different settings. Also the G12 cab needed quite a bit more channel volume to sound good, and under my circumstances this isn't an option. I play with channel 1 @ 10:30, channel 2 @ 9, and channel 3 @ 9, master 1 @ 9, and master 2 @ 9:30 most of the time - sometimes I crank the channels to 11 and the master to 10:30 - just to piss off the neighbors. :D
The V30 sounded tighter to me and more agressive on the distorted channels. I really liked the punch I got on ch. 1 too, so that's why I went with the V cab.
