Mine was Animated Violence when I was 15 or 16. We played a mix of Metallica, Black Sabbath, and hard core punk (1987-ish).

My friend and drummer came up with the name, which I always thought was gay. IIRC, I wanted to be called something cool like Assassin....which seems equally gay to me now that I think about it.

Around 1986 my first band was called "Xcelerator".

Our first show was a school talent show and we covered Livin' After Midnight, Breakin' The Chains and an original called "Audio Demolition".  Good times indeed.

Tyrant Sin

Because in was '92, and we were sophomores in High School, and death metal rules

1985ish I was the bass player in Legal Tender   We were a rock / top 40 type band playing anything from Tears for Fears to hair metal.

Man I had a SWEET Rick 4001 in jet black and ran that through EV 2-way cabs and an old Ampeg head.

Generation 3 was my first band ever which was punk/metal. Only Flesh was the first formative band I joined when I was 19. That was goth industrial. They're still around. https://www.myspace.com/onlyflesh. Check out the vids at your own risk. It's over the top.

1986 - Rapid Fire, which I think we named after a Judas Priest song

I even painted bullet holes on my guitar

Sagittarius

I have no idea why. We were 15-16-17-18 years old. We arranged a gig at a bar and they wanted to know our name for the flyers. That was the first name that 2nd guitarist came up with. LOL. I hated it but didn't have a better idea. :D

Buhahahaha! Great thread lol!

My first band was a prog rock band Called Warlock :hys: I was 16 and We didn't know about Doro Pesch yet lol. The music was strange as hell to! We were listening to a lot of Rush back then lol.

Then I went Metal years later with a much better band name......................
Seducer

And then.........are you ready?...............T.H.O.

Brilliant huh!!! :hys:

My first real band was called "Linus." It was 1987 and we played Kiss, VH, Priest, Maiden, Savatage, Focus, Rush, Alice Cooper, Dokken, Tull, Floyd, etc. We had 2 sets of brothers, my brother was the drummer and the other guitarist and bass player were identical twins. We were all on the same little league team together too.  Actually the twins' older brother was on that same team.

Ha ha, good thread! My first "real" band was named "United" in around 1990-92. We started out only doing covers, then won studio time in a battle of the bands contest. We started writing originals and ended up with the following four tunes. Kinda poppy, huh? We were a 3 piece. The singer played bass, I played guitar and sang backup, then the drummer played drums (obviously.)

I actually played drums on "Broken Hearted" and "Miss You Much" on one of those little Roland 8 pad thingies with a kick trigger thing. Funny... You can hear the quality of the recording and our songwriting improving on the last two songs.

I think I used a Crate solid-state 2x12" combo and MIM Strat on these songs.

Don't Say Goodbye >

What's Wrong With You >

Broken Hearted >

Miss You Much >

PS - A side story... The singer/bass player never knew his dad when he was growing up. We won studio time and found out after the first or second recording session that the project studio owner/engineer was his dad. Strange how that worked out, huh? That's how they met.

EDIT - I think I may have used a borrowed Fender Princeton Chorus 2x10" combo on those last two songs.

Ha, you guys sounded pretty good! Very cool story, too. I think the band I was in at that time was playing Pantera type stuff. I bet you guys got a lot more girls! At least higher quality... :D

Hurricane. Must have been around '75/'76.

Huh? Who's that in your avatar, Ralph?

Phaucet, it was around 1997. We were all Phish fans, but the lead singer was a Phish nut.

I used a Fender HOT amp, or borrowed a blackface fender combo (Don't remember the model)

Crimson Skies.

we were about 12 or 13.  :D

We would play originals and covers of White ZOmbie, Nirvana, Foo FIghters, AIC, Megadeth.

it was AWESOME

Crate GX130C 2x12

EDIT: later names of the Crimson Skies band:

Deceptakons
Certified Muff Divers or "C.M.D"
Shattered Dreams

Black Sunshine

We had an interesting obsession with the White Zombie album with that tune on it. Of course, we sounded nothing like White Zombie at all, but that didn't stop us.
