Abstract, why so hard headed? Papa says it will. Why is it so hard for you to believe?

The two grounds on the jacks are likely wired together internally in the amp so yes it will produce a short.
 
I've been running two amps in stereo for quite a while now using the TE-2 Tera Echo as the last pedal in the effect chain prior to the amps (preamps). No issues with losing "balls", etc.

If you don't want to do that, buy an AXE FX II and run a patch with two amp blocks simul. Your rig sounds waaaay too complicated dude...
 
I think I have a way to decomplicate it.

No phase issues to worry about.

Got a VH4S so I don't need to worry about phase. They're both the same.
